Senors,
I, Hernan de History Guy Calamari, bid you all farewell forever. The time has come for me to depart, and I must. I shall become a wandering sage in the hills, living in deep contemplation, and hoping to become closer to the spirits in my late years. I can no longer in good conscience continue to make life a misery for mankind.
I leave the company to my son, Hernan the Younger. What he plans, I do not know. I am not even sure he plans much of anything as of yet, if at all, where such things are concerned. He was always more of a luxury-lover.
Petro, my amigo, here are several hundred bones. I want you to do some serious redecoration around here.

I'm sorry to hear you go - you have always been a most reliable and fun friend. But it's a good choice to try to become wiser; you might discover philosophy for us one day. I will use the bones for my own good, uh I mean to redecorate this place. Farewell, senor Hernan.

ANNOUNCEMENT:
In this post-squid era I have decided to renovate this tavern for the needs of the modern consumer. The tavern will be closed, but renovations won't take too long. You can always pop by and have a chat when the renovations aren't finished yet; you just can't have a beer. That shouldn't be much of a problem, right? Not having alcoholic beverages isn't the end of the world... for most of us...

Besides that, squids will always be remembered as the symbol of progress. The meal which brought us into civilization. Helped us at least, Togas did all the great work of course. But the days of virtual squid monopoly are over, so I will make my menu more varied.

Rightly spoken, Winterius. We can't just let this happen. I hope Togas makes sure righteousness will prevail in this case.

(blub blub blub blub)
Darn it, Gastronome. Stop the crying. You've ruined my shirt.
Floris, what worries me is that this trial is not just. I feel that someone behind the scenes wants to kill Hernan the Elder, my father. There is no evidence that he prayed to evil spirits. Indeed, there is no real identification of Thug's body. My father was always a loyal and obedient servant of the government - no man contributed half as much money for the common good as he. Also, he paid for the recruiting of the Explorer's Guild, he bought the land for the Marketplace, the commercial center of Madrid, and he attempted more than any other to preserve Spain's glorious history. Now, in return for his loyalty, he is being slowly murdered daily.
I trust that Togas shall have mercy shortly, in my heart I know that he is sympathetic. I speak no treason, nor has my father, but the blood of my father cries for justice, and we need to petition for his life. Perhaps a good number of men of the tribe can come forward and ask for his pardon. Perhaps that will convince His Greatness.

This news is good to my ears. My father is alive, he has been proved to be a righteous man after all. Never once did he pray to evil spirits, nor did he ever harbor treasonous thoughts in his cavernous skull.
I thank you, O High Priest, for your prayers.
I must, however, say this. My father can not stand the thought of exile, and banishment. He can not live away from us, he simply wouldn't survive it. I have tracked him to his cave and sent some medicine men to watch him. If the High Priest would say some prayers over him to help his soul enter the spirit world, I think that would be best. He is an old man. His body is broken by the murderous runs down the falls. His heart is broken by his exile, and I fear that he will soon die.

* A young man enters. Those who know the Dejon Family well recognize him as the youngest son, Fletcher Dejon. He mopes his way to the bar and slumps down.
Oh, woe is me! Father!? Who will listen to my strange ideas now?
* Those seated to either side of the lad see he is grasping a thin stick, pointed at one end. Bird feathers are falling out of his pockets.
None of my brothers listen to me! They only like things they can swing at enemies. So much for progress!
Barkeep - I wanna drink!

[i]Someone at the back of the boy recognizes Fletcher and says, "Saaaaaaaaaaaaay, nae, I remember ye, boyo. Yer mama used to *** on in heeeer and sah "Ohhhh, why canna Fletcher be mahnly like the ooother boys?"
Immediately, someone smashes a beerstein against the guy's jaw, and a bar room brawl insues.
Quickly, Fletcher hides, while everyone else begins to fight, even some other Dejons.
Gastronome immediately picks up a large bar slab and wacks it across some guy's bean, while one of the Clementes wacks him with a bottle of sherry. Petro immediately reacts with his rock bottle "opener", and after rendering a few guys flat, Hernan runs in and punches out some lights, while Petro immediately whips out a sherry.
The brawl ends, Hernan gulps his sherry, and Fletcher comes on out and sits down...[i]
So, young Fletcher, trying to be an inventor, eh?
I see sticks and bird feathers...
I just have one question...
Could this be beneficial to the squid business?

Laidech, me bucko, de ye nae recognize mae?
I suppose not, as I haven't laid eyes on you before, but that's OK, because this is Spain! Welcome, yet another clan leader. That's one nice tartan, lad. However...we're Spanish, and thus only partly Celtic. We've also got a lot of Roman blood in us too. From where we got it, no one knows, because as far as we know the Romans don't exist at all. Also, I like that long, droopy mustache. Gives you a distinctly Celtic look. Mine had to be improved by a goatee, I'm afraid. A Spanish goatee, of course.
Lyre, eh? I had a friend who used to play a lyre. He got stepped on by a giant long ago. We haven't heard lyres since. Glad to hear one. Petro should hire your playing, sir.
