This is late and redundant, but I justr moved this from the tactical thread. These were some thoughts prior to the RP propsal....

I think much of that is exceeded by the treaty Arnelos wrote to start from.

They are already seeking our advice, and implementing it. I would imagine that after the treaty is signed, they may even forward the save to some of us so that we can give more timely and accurate advice.

We would give Engineering, of course. All luxes to be shared, with odd balls being ours to decide who gets it.

Discussions of city dispositions are underway. They are very attached to many of the cities in the South (for obvious reasons). They responded very well when I suggested we might return most of their historic cities to them once the danger is past, and take more land in the North. They liked that a great deal.

Conversation now is based on our taking over the front in the East (New Madrid, Toledo, Bilbao) so that their army concentrates in the West.

We should spend a little time on roleplaying to solidify the relationship. Perhaps a spontaneous outcry in one of our cities, as wonderfully described by vulture.

proposal seems fine... maybe one comment (but only to avoid a loophole): we will grant the cities Marlowa, Arnablanca, etc. but the timing is rather strict. We expect to conquer GoW, and before that time, those few cities might serve us... it reads like RP wants them when ND is conquered, not when Bob is conquered.

Other then that, I would ratify it asap, and send it back. And let's hope they have also ratified it in the mean time, so we can get an official copy back in the next 15 minutes or so

For the most part, the cities will be better with RP, especially the S ND cities. We do need bases from time to time, but those we should place with Settlers of our own probably.

Does the nationality of all citizens in a gifted town change like it does in SP? If so, it's a good means of preventing culture flips.

I think the agreement is excellent, although I agree that the timing of who gets what cities when is a little hazy.

There are two bits missing.

Article VII

****4. With the exception of Article I, this treaty is subject to restrictions which Gathering Storm may be under due to agreements with foreign powers. If Gathering Storm is unable to fulfill a clause of this treaty, because doing so would cause a violation of an agreement with a foreign power, then Gathering Storm will not be considered to have violated this treaty.

****5. The existence of this treaty, and the terms of it, are to be kept secret from all civs and individuals who are not members or citizens of Gathering Storm or Spain. Gathering Storm may grant permission to disclose the existence of this treaty or specific details of it when Gathering Storm feels it would be beneficial to do so, at which time specified details may be disclosed, but the remainder will remain secret.

I will go chase down Arnelos if possible.

3. Future agreements between the partners and with foreign powers may be created and both partners pledge to do their utmost to find mutually beneficial solutions for the partners in all such cases, but ultimately the nation of the Gathering Storm has the right to veto potential agreements by Spain with foreign powers and thus carries an obligation to honor future agreements made by Spain with foreign powers.

Arnelos had some concerns re the subject to clause. We worked it out so that Spain gets similar protection to avoid breaking agreements.

And who would appoint you High Priest of the Chicken? It has to be one of the "heathens", as Cardinal Ralphus is now catholic. Besides, roleplaying will certainly create trust and may grow into friendship, if done right. It's the only reason I'm doing this.
