Informal boycott of French products taking hold... Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

It appears that American consumers are choosing to forgo buying products produced by France. This seems to go beyond the funny but silly "freedom fries" and the like.

For instance, instead of French wine, they're buying Spanish, Italian, and Australian (nb: Australian wine is often a very good buy--recommended, so too NZ).

Personally, I have thought twice about buying French wine in the last couple of months, even though it has been my daily drinking wine for years. It's nothing that I've made a decision about, but my eyes seem to wander away from French brands.

There's a ton of good wine from other parts of the world, including the US. And very often it costs a lot less too.

Anything that is fun in US, funds terrorism. If you don't believe me just watch TV long enough, they'll tell you so.

Some California wines are great too, and I never would base my decision to buy them (or not) on some political differences.

This is sooooo stupid. Boycotting some country because 59% were against the war. Not the whole country, 59%! And all that because of a difference of opinion...Si it's like when we were kids...Bang Bang your dead or I dont play no more! If you dont let me play with you ,you are not my friend no more...boohoo...

Just like kids...

Why cant the U.S. respect the decision of others without making such a fuss over it? And when the U.S. takes a decision that other countries dont like do they do silly things like a boycott? NO! They get over it and go on with their lives...

The U.S. is like a spoiled little bratt.

Two things that are interesting to me about this: (1) German products have been unaffected; and (2) this cuts both ways in that American brands are the most valuable in the world and we will probably take a hit because of this war.

That´s an excuse for alcoholism!

On topic: well there were some voices here and there in Germany who sugggested boycotting US stuff because of the war, but fortunately without big impact.

Paik: American brands overall (i.e., not wine) account for something like the top 8 or 9 brands in value. Microsoft, Coca Cola, etc.

The USA is not boycotting french goods despite that the French government chose to act as it did. Americans, as individuals, are simply exercising their right to choose what products to buy. Its a totally different thing.

Nah, we always take it personally. This all started before troops were even in Iraq. It has more to do with countries offering serious dissent to US interests.

Riiiiiiiiiiight! And why did they start doing that you think? Just the spur of the moment they said:" Hey! Let's boycott french products for no reason!"
It's because of the war and because the americans cant take no for an answer so they HAVE to get revenge whatever way works.
Like I said, spoiled little bratts.

We indeed are the 7nth largest tobacco pruducing country in the world. (which is noteworthy considering we are not a large country)

The Commission is going to great pains to change tobacco production in the EU into other production.
