Ok, here is my take on the matter:
Step 1: Arashi 6
- bombard arashi 6.
- attack arashi 6 with regular med. inf in arashi (both). Both have good odds of winning, and then stay in the city, unexposed.
- attack arashi 6 with vet WC that is on arashi 6, 6
.
- if the WC attack was a success, there is 1 unit left (the 2/3 reg immortal, I imagine). Hit it with a WC, so we can pull the WC back to saftey. If not, we might want to hit Arashi 6 with the vet sword in arashi and then finish the last unit with a WC.
The keys are: wipe out the units on Arashi 6. Do not leave our units exposed to counterattack.
Step 2: GoW horsies.
As I understand it, we will have a catapult with which to bombard them. Good, we use it - but not right away. I would lead the attack with one of our regular swords from Arashi. Either he wins, or the elite horsie retreats. Either is fine for now. THEN bombard the vet. Then hit with a WC. We cannot afford casualties. I have watched MANY, MANY veteran horsemen (or WCs) die to defending horsemen on hills. It's 2 versus 1.5.
Step 3: IF things have gone well, and we have enough offense left, we can consider whether or not to hit the units by Monsoon. I think we would need to discuss this in light of the outcomes of Steps 1 & 2, though. I suspect we will not have the firepower to save Monsoon, so we will have to abandon it.
Step 4: moving pikemen. The pikeman by EotS should move to Arashi 2. Pikeman IN EotS should move 7, 7, 4.
*Now this is what concerns me most. When is the road 1, 1 from Arashi due to be completed? Because if Vox takes their main stack and moves 1 onto the hill, without that road, we cannot protect Tempest with pikes from Arashi.
We need more attack units! If, by the way, we have any gold left over and any swordsmen in arashi we didn't use, we should upgrade to med inf.

Ohhhh man did this work out sweet for us! If not for the GoW horsemen landing, we could wreck them but good this turn....as it is, we'll have to pick and choose, but I must say....I'm jazzed about the way it worked out!
A lot has been said in relative disappointment that they did not attack Arashi, and it's true, had they attacked there, this war would already be over, cos they'd have been attacking where we were strongest.
No matter.....the fact that they have split themselves up into manageable bits for us works almost as well! We have 3 to 6 times their mobility (thanks to our roads), and can concentrate our forces on their smaller elements. That's doom, no matter how you look at it.
It looks like the discussion has already come and gone regarding rushing, and I'm in total agreement with what's been decided....two cats look mighty fine to me!
With regards to this turn's festivities, here's what I'd like to see us be able to accomplish:
* Two dead GoW horsies
*One dead stack of Immortals on the flats of Arashi 6.
We should be able to accomplish both with minimal exposure (in fact, our WC's can attack Arashi 6 from the city, and still be under the protection of the Pikes guarding the city....well, 'cept for the last one, who winds up being exposed on the flats.
This stuff amounts to free kills for us, or very nearly so.....by not attacking, they have surrendered the initiative to us, and they have committed themselves to giving us more time to build up, since after this turn, they will not be in a position to launch a substantive attack for at least two more turns. I like it!

Well, the key operational difference seems to be the notion of going for the Immortals near Monsoon. I agree that they are a tempting target, but I regard those Immortals (and the stack behind them) as a casual threat. They are badly positioned for a near-term strike at our heartland.
True, we should deal with them before they get to the ridge line of hills, but we've got time yet to do that.
My inclination would be to just let them have Monsoon (which, as I understand it, will destroy the city, denying them a base), and smack the crap out of the forces nearer our core.
The problem I see with striking at the forces near Monsoon is that we can more easily concentrate our forces on the group near Sandstorm, which leaves us max flexibility to deal with the rest. If we attack the guys on the flats near Monsoon, then we should commit to also destroying the forces behind them (still on the mountains)....but this would leave our forces ill-positioned to defend the core.
By the time the Voxian "Monsoon Regiment" gets into the thick of the fight, they should be just about the only force we have left to deal with, cos we can plink the others out of existence before they can become a threat.

don't we have 2 cats ready to hit the horsies with? One is going to complete in OG without extra gold, one being rushed in WW?
I don't like giving away Monsoon that easily, even if it was lost in advance. If we can destroy that minimal stack this turn, we leave a target for those 4 extra immortals near it, which I think is nicer. Other then that, taking out the forces of A6 makes more sense, so if we need to choose, A6 looks a better choice.
Are our generals not forgetting Hurricane? Sure, we can't attack there, but it looks like we will have to face 7 immortals there, and have to defend 2 mountains against them. That looks more of a threat to me then the stack 'heading to EotS'.

Hurricane looks ok for now, based on the screenshot. EDIT: not quite, see below.
Nathan said he moved one of our east coast galleys and can see the Voxian one... we ought to move both of our galleys into position and then kill the Voxian one next turn. Edit: see below for more detailed idea.
The west coast galley should move into O. Gale (safe there). Then proceed up the coast.
If GoW is dumb and moves their galley down the coast, we could bombard it with the cats & kill it with our galley (if we want to use the cats on that rather than Voxian invaders... which come to think of it is doubtful).

Hmm... a few things I thought of now that I've pondered the situation more...
The pikeman near EotS should move to counter the Voxians on the East Coast Mountians. We need more protection there b/c of the untimely death of one of our swords.
edit: nevermind about the east coast galley stuff... I misunderstood something.
