If you refer to liberals being associated with the prolitariat, who tend to be less educated than the rich, then you have misunderstood. While an idea like liberalism or much of leftism could be associated with the working classes, rarely do they take a lead in that, at most they are followers, instead of intellectual liberals, and indeed usually they are conservative. Similarly, there are more intellectual liberals amoung the intelligentsia than in the general population, I would imagine as a comparison of the fractions of each in the respective groups.
Nonetheless, I am somewhat reluctant to associate this version of "smart" with generalisations about classes, I am merely saying, if you are intelligent (you could say high IQ, or well read, philosophically inclined etc) then you are more likely to be liberal.

The prime Conservatives, it can be said, are of the business class. They are the smart, money-making guys. For all you've stated, you cannot deny that Henry Ford, John Rockefeller, Bill Gates, etc., are HIGHLY intelligent people.
The prime Liberals are mostly of the university, ivory-tower class. They can be the philosopher type (though there are plenty of conservative philosophers), but are mainly into BS, and really aren't intelligent as the businessmen, even though they like to pretend they are.
Moving away from the 'prime' Conservatives... Conservatives tend to be richer, Liberals poorer. Richer people are better educated than poorer. QED. If you really want to get all 'one ideology is smarter than the other' .

You are confusing issues, assuming smart to be one generic thing - "you're in a high powered job, you have good grades etc, thus you are smart", simply does not hold. Nonetheless, those in literary, academic political, philosophical circles do have a high concentration of liberals. In order to analyse and choose world views, one would need to be more philosophically minded - a thinker. A smart businessman is only necessarily so in business related matters. Your argument is flawed thus. In any case, Ford, Gates etc, are hardly representative of the business community, in the sense that they are part of a tiny number of individuals.
Incidentally, IQ wise, "university classes" as you put it are highest - funny that.
In my observations, looking at liberalism and educated background, they tend to be at the richer, more educated end of the spectrum, but especially those in academic circles, whereas conservatives, in world view (if not social policy, but that is an aspect too ambiguous and irrelevant to my concerns) are from poorer backgrounds with less education.

Do you grasp how arrogant and unfounded your statement is?

When people make posts and you comment on them, its generally a good idea to read them first. In terms of arrogant, well I suppose it must seem that way to someone who cannot understand, whereas to someone that can it makes logical sense, whether one agrees or not. No need to worry, I'll summarise:
Liberalism in terms of world and moral views relies on the assumption that your view is subjective and does not necessarily hold for other people, other cultures, other moral views, whereas conservatives rely on their views being perceived to be ultimately good, "god bless america" and all that. As such, they use the notion of ultimately, or objectively good concepts as a justification for their imposition and application. Such a view of course lends itself to patriotism, and it appeals to the idiotic in two ways. The first is of course patriotism, as most people cannot cope with expanding their "span of sympathy" as Milgram put it. Liberals by their nature require a larger span of sympathy. Similarly, liberalism encourages tolerance, which is hard for people, who prefer to wrap themselves up in the "comfort blanket" of their views, patriotism, and the like. I often hear the notion of conservatism encourages hatred of ones enemies . Fundamentally, liberalism is far more intellectually and mentally demanding than conservatism, the latter being a nice simply little package to shrink wrap and hand out like cheeseburgers to those who are incapable or unwilling to think further, and thus come to the conclusion that the assumptions upon which conservatism is based (i.e. patriotism) are essentially fallacies. Its a great shame, but most people are not willing to accept that, but c'est la vie. Theres a more in depth article on my site, if you wish you can PM me if you want more detail.
