Now I've read about you guys and finally I can be certain I've met the true evil.
You guys are the worst outcome of society, not me. I'm not to blame for my fate, you are. |
Uh, hi.

Actually, I'm rather anti-therapy. I don't like the idea of a professional friend. I can't bring myself to trust the person who is acting all concerned and **** only cuz I'm paying them.
Theoretically, therapy is a good thing, but unfortunately, it is done by fallable humans who bring all sorts of misconceptions of their own with them. |
A therapist ideally should be more than a pro friend. They should contribute real solutions, that a friend might not think of. and they should be objective in a way its hard for a friend to be. and sometimes it should be possible to admit things to them that would be hard to admit to a friend. Its nice to get legal advice from a friend, but even better to get it from a lawyer. Its nice to get financial advice from a friend - but sometimes better from an accountant. and its great to get advice on thoughts, feelings, and life steps from a friend - but sometimes better from a professional.
But they do bring misconceptions - IMO it takes months to "break in" a therapist, and some cant be broken in at all.
and nothing sucks more than when youve found a good therapist, who you work well with, and then they leave for personal/career reasons
