	Consular Reelection Campaign Thread Inflate your Upload Space

Well, it's almost election time again, and as I stated in the candidate thread, I plan on running again.

The game is once again resuming and things are starting to cook up. As our REX completes, the Palace jump is enacted, the GWT-CGN war enters its real phase and other events take place in the near future, this is clearly a very important part of this game. Because of that, we need an experienced, active and capable leader and organizer. I believe I can be that leader in this pivotal time.

The past three months I have been consul and I have done my best to bring the best to the team that is possible. My priority has always been the team and what the team has wanted. I obviously hold very strong opinions about most issues that we're dealing with, but I always realize my position as a representative of this team and always work towards this goal. You can see this in the poll where we decided whether or not to accept CGN's cities… I disagreed with the move, however, the team voted in favor of it, so I accepted that and pursued it with my full effort. My priority is being a representative of this team, and I shall not forget that should I be reelected. A good consul must be able to do more than play the turn, he must also be the will of the team in one person.

I am currently working on a plan and will discuss with the other consuls to help bring more of the content of this game from the chatroom to the forum. As it stands now, a lot of things are done in the chatroom, but there are a lot of people who cannot be in chat all the time to know what's going on and help make decisions. I hope to be allowed to put this plan into action by being reelected.

As with last term, I believe my activity level to be another very important part of my abilities to be a consul. Being around in order to play the turn, post threads and polls, debate in discussions, verify plans for the coming turns and also into the future. A consul is also a leader and an organizer - he must also be involved in the planning and bring it forward to the team. I do my best to bring issues forward before the team on a variety of subjects. Some of them might not be popular, some of them people might find very controversial. When I do these sorts of things, I do not do them for the purpose of stirring the pot or to try and push forward my own agenda - I do it so that the team can give its voice on the important topics. Whether it’s a positive response or a negative one, the fact that the team was involved and the team ultimately made the decision is the most important aspect.

During my term here are a few things which I have done or assisted with:

Contingency Plan - GWT Destroys CGN
Discussion and planning on what we should do in case GWT manages to defeat CGN.

Naming Cities
Redesigning the system of how we name cities through senatorial polling process.

AltSp II
Determining the plan for how our team will play this game into the future.

Marketplaces vs. Libraries
What our priorities should be regarding short-to-mid-term infrastructure in our cities.

I hope the Senate is proud of and believes in the work I have done and will do in the future. I hope that you once again choose me to lead this great team. Let democracy ring.

Although I posted favourably for Togas, to reflect how difficult this choice will be (for me, at least), I feel obliged to do so here too.

Trip has annoyed a lot of people here at times, I am sure he'd admit that much. I have failed to become annoyed as of yet, due to Trip's greatest asset to the team and DGs as a whole - his activity level and deep involvement in the game, which is something no-one can deny.

We almost cannot afford to not have Trip contributing in a hands-on manner as, for example, Consul - what he does would likely take 2 or 3 of any of the rest of us. If Trip had not been MoW things would look considerably the worse right now, Trip has had singular success in courting miccofl from the start, and seems to be present for every chat with any other team member (regardless of whether the proceedings are posted or not). Trip is an invaluable asset to the team, and we without him here in some fashion things would be very difficult. But as to if we need him to be Consul or not.... well, given the alternative is Togas, the choice is in no way easy.

I will fully admit that this election is going to be a very tough one for a lot of us, me included.

Togas is a very talented leader and a good friend. Trip has succesffully managed to overcome the misgivings I had about him and proven with a record of service that he can act both effectiviely, responsibly, AND even humbly as one of the elected executives.

So yes, this is a very tough decision. I honestly can't say how I'll vote in the end. I supported and voted for Togas last time because I thought it was a very clear choice, but I'm no longer so sure. Trip has done much to impress me in the last 3 months, despite how much I have clashed with him.

Trip might be a pain the ass sometimes, though I surprisingly agree with him perhaps more than most people out here, and I can honestly say that he has performed admirably as a consul. This will definitely be a difficult match between two very talented and capable individuals.

Trip, I see your strengths as being a dynamic and active person. That is valuable. Very. However, a measure of leadership is delegation and getting good results from those you delegate to.

Do you think that you delegate well and that you get good results from subordinates? Could you do better? How?

I believe in the past the delegation of duties has been adequate, though I certainly believe I could improve myself in that area.

I think a lot of the problem has been a lack of communication, which I intend to work on should I be reelected. FAM thinks duties are being taken away, finds little point in doing too much, consuls find more and more work to do and believing the FAM is becoming inactive causes the duties to be further centralized. Now that the root of the problem has been discovered, I believe I can impliment a plan with the help of the other current consuls to help reestablish a link with the FAM that was present many months ago when things were working much smoother. Again, the key is communication, and with the main concern identified it can be rectified.
