looking damn awesome so far

options down on the bottom(on the left or in the middle?) seems good - how about a way to launch mods for the replacement button?(if thats possible).

And the small legal writing - it just doesn't look quite right in red. Not sure what other colour would be best, but the red although very obvious - spoils the nice wood tones we've[edit: he he! er i mean 'you' ] got going?

well thats what you do with legal stuff, make it barely legible

how about black(cue THAT 'Fast Show' scetch - uk residents only? ).....or a light tan/magnolia - red just draws the eye away from the actual screen - good for lawyers, not so good for newbies/players

Well am i the only one who thinks red is a bit too in your face, it really seems to distract my eye from the great looking title page?
I'll have to download it and play with it in photoshop to be able to tell what other colours work..........hmmm maybe green?

I don't care for red either. I lean to black.

I haven't looked yet, but can I assume the each individual button is a graphic, or does the program take the same button background and overlay different type?

Got a little busy at work hope to get to a new sketch in an hour or two.

Well all aesthetic considerations aside, the disclaimer is probably a key requirement of the EULA and should probably be very noticeable on the opening splash screen. The very bright red rgb(255,0,0) achieves this. Something not quite so bright like rgb(192,0,0) might also work.

Latest version, hopefully darn close to approval.

Elements such as a quick launch button can be added as they are programmed. Not a problem.

No luck here with upload. I've come to the conclusion the problem is Apple's Safari browser. Will try again from Explorer.

But if I remember correctly "Call to Power" cannot be included in any modified version of the game like the one we're working on according to the EULA. At list as a part of the game's name.

It does look really good.

About the version box, perhaps you can try a box like the "multiplayer" and "single player" boxes but flip it vertically? and obviously slightly smaller because of less importance.

From what I've seen in the code it's the same as in CTP1, where you generally load PBEM games by double-clicking on the save game files, so no in-game interface is necessary (but if you can't do that for some reason then you can load them from the SP load game button as Locutus suggests).

You're right, it's not in the EULA...
I had the impression that I read that somewhere...

None the less the EULA refers to the source code and material accompany it and not to the game's name itself, therefore it could be subject to copyright issues since "Call To Power" is copyright of Activision.

Probably that won't be a problem but an issue we should be aware of.

I think "Call To Power" would be a trademark, rather than copyright, so it should be OK (but don't consider that an informed legal opinion! After all, we only need to consider what happened to Activision over "Civilization"...).

...and all the text files, which modmakers have been distributing since time immemorial. Of course, this is a slightly different situation, but I hope that it would be considered the same sort of thing. We should of course be careful not to make available so much that it looks remotely possible that the game can be run without the CD...

Yes, it is a trademark. Acording to the "INDEX.HTM" located in the help folder of the original CD: "Call to Power is a trademark of Activision, Inc. All rights reserved."

I am not aware of the legal stuff about trade marks but there must be some sort of limitation in using that the specific name. Probably cannot be used without the owner's permission in another game title or material other than the original but I can't be 100% sure about it.

I would hope that all of this stuff falls under "New Game Materials", upon the distribution of which the EULA places several restrictions: not a stand-alone product, not illegally exporting, not for profit and most importantly:
