The fact that it was on tv is meaningless. The fact thqat you beliee it is meaningless. It is a common enough volcanic feature found throughout the world. The fact that there is one on Ararat is meaningless in except that it may be the source for the belief that the Ark came to rest on Ararat.

I believe you are mistaken the ark is much smaller than what is being described here and resides in secret government warehouse somewhere. I saw it all on that special, the Indiana Jones thingy.

And then we have other examples of religious people, such as the Catholic priest and theologian professor I had for one class in undergraduate school.

He and I have had reasonable, mutually respecting discussion on the issues of reconciling Christian values with homosexuality, in his office outside of class, without him ever suggesting I compromise part of what I am.

It doesn't really have anything to do with what Che said to Doc, though. His point was that it certainly does matter what one believes in, because some people have beliefs that lead them to do some nasty things.

Evil is real, and it wears a pleasant guise. And it is perfectly willing to beat you 'till near dead then crucify you on a barbed wire fence.

When you become a fundie. I continuously find it amazing how Christians think that they are gonna win arguments by quoting bible verses. I also find it amazing how some still think that the book is the be all and end all. Hell, I know a few Catholics who admit that the bible is not the be all and all.

I'd also like to know why their God deserves my faith. From what I can gather God is an arrogant f**k who doesn't deserve our respect/faith.

Also a final point concerning the absurdity of free will. You say God gave us free will, yet according to the bible there is pretty much only one way to live your life. So whats so free willed about living your life in that one specific way? You don't have free will, free will is just something you tell yourselves that exists within your religious construct to explain people that question it.
