I gotta love this Deaniac chant that if their man was where Kerry was the Dems would be doing better. It's the biggest stick your fingers in your ears job in recent memory.

The Republicans had their Dean get nominated once... his name was Barry Goldwater. I'm sure Dean would have had similar success.

hmm, but rigging the primaries with 527's funded by the likes of toricelli and Gephardt, to equate Dean with Osama? They could have at least fought fair.

And if Iraq starts to really deteriorate, it's not like Kerry will be ale to do anything but take the blame with Bush... because he voted for the Iraq War.

You will always have a majority who will back going into Iraq in the first place. Someone saying we never should have gone in would get hammered... ie, Bush would say he backs Saddam or something.

You think Kerry and the Dems don't fight fair?! You didn't have to go toe to toe with Bush's team.

Bush was the enemy, the Dean campaign was not. And what was done against howard Dean is now illegal as of a Feb 19th FEC ruling.

Regarding a majority supporting Iraq... it's eroding very fast, if not gone according to most polls.

Perhaps it does .

The Dean campaign was definetly the enemy of the Kerry campaign back then and you act like violating FEC regulations is such a BIG deal! Both Clinton and Dole did so in 1996 and Gore did in 2000.

And there will always be a majority who support going into Iraq. What they will get on Bush about is the aftermath.

Bush is right. And Kerry is trying to dig up Sept11 to hit Bush. What woukd Kerry do at Sept11? I suppose that nothing good. It's easy to criticize the sequence of events caused by Sept11, but what would Kerry do if he were 2001 president?

And they were talking of civility, while secretly morphing Dean's face into that of Osama bin Laden. Gephardt took the hit for the DNC, he would not have stood a chance against Bush if the word got out about what he had done with his 527. The link to Kerry is much murkier. Nobody knew who financed the "Americans for Jobs, healthcare and Progressive values" was, because their financial records did not have to be reported until mid February. By then Dean was destroyed, and when the filings were revealed, lo and behold, it was a bunch of gephardt goons, and Robert Toricelli, a dirty senator, who resigned under scharges of corruption.

Dean lost in Iowa because he was "attacking Gephardt, and mean spirited, and the real enemy was supposed to be Bush", when in reality, Gephardt was falling on the sword for the DNC, and commiting a character assasination on Dean.

The Dean cadre was hardcore, and informed. Kerry spilt too much blood in the secret democratic civil war between the old gaurd and the new school. For that, Ralph Nader is still pulling down 4%, and Bush actually has a chance.

The way the DNC treated Dean took their "electable" candidate, and made the race a real toss-up.

I was never happy with Kerry, that hasn't changed. Sure, I'll vote for him over Bush. But I'd have voted for any of the Dems in the field over Bush. Well, I might have abstained had it been Lieberman or Sharpton. Still, there's just no way I'll vote for Bush.

Why Joe Biden isn't on the ballot, I don't know. Maybe he's saving it for 2008, but every time I see him, he looks more presidential. He'd certainly bring the foreign policy credentials to the ticket. If they were going to draft someone else (and that won't happen, folks, let's not kid ourselves), I'd hope it would be him.

Exactly. Not being G. W. Bush isn't going to cut it, everyone in the country who isn't already president qualifies there. He's scared to death of taking a stand on any issue that isn't a slam dunk for him. The dems just seem to have a deathwish. Even Bill Clinton was a sure loser against G.H.W. Bush until the long eared galoot from Texas got into the race in 1992.

Depends on what you mean by "as bad as." That could encompass many things. He's "as bad as" Sharpton in terms of him being someone for whom I'd rather not vote at all than vote for. But for different reasons.
