Tbh I expect a legal expansion is the most important thing (you probably can get away with acquired NWN), since people say with WC3 you can play TFT online if you upgrade from an acquired version.

I'm expecting the same thing too, but my brother bought me a plain vanilla version of the game. And then opened it before giving it to me for some reason, so now I can't take it back.

Not that I mind paying for games I play, but the original module is certainly not enough to hold my attention...

Just finished the HotU campaign yesterday. Nice game. Loved the plot. Currently playing through the second time.

A *TON* of annoying bugs, though. This is a game with an awesome plot and a lot of work obviously put into it, but it shows all the signs of a game rushed out the door before they had a chance to fix a lot of the bugs.

As for this PW you guys are playing on, I'll have to try it out at some point. Currently, I'm a little too busy with other stuff in RL.

That was fast.

I too finished a few days ago, and it is the best of the 3 games. If I replayed it would be on hard though, because all of the game was much too easy. My fighter buffed by Deekin and with maximum upgraded Enserric was unstoppable.

Points for discussion:

1) Multi-classed henchmen suck. The point of multiclassing is to get the best of both worlds, but if you don't optimise the character you get the worst of both worlds. I really should have stopped Deekin taking RDD levels, but I didn't want to ruin the story, and I wasn't having difficulty, so I didn't. He ended up with massive strength and constitution but still using a crossbow!

Nathyrra was ok, since she did have a few nice spells, and with 2 light swords (there are lots you can use late game) she was dishing out fair damage. However if you toggle spell casting on she tends to use lame spells, and if you leave it off she wont use her good spells. Again a case of it being hard to use the multiclassed character well.

2) I got the girl! Also I know her true name, so I can make her do whatever I want.

3) Why don't we get the chance to go and kick Halaster's ass? The whole geas thing didn't come up at all in my story after it was placed, making it a bit contrived.

4) I didn't see any bugs. Well Nathyrra did die in the last fight because she took like 5 years to drink the heal potion I gave her, and then mysteriously came to life for the end sequence, but I didn't see any bad bugs.

Actually, I had Deekin level up specifically in his Red Dragon prestige class and it worked out pretty well.

I didn't like Nathyrra's multiclassing... too many classes. Sure, they're very complementary. If you have her buff with her wizard skills before battle while specializing in being an assassin, she can eventually become somewhat effective. That said, Valen and a certain girl both kick a lot more ass if you give them the right equipment and buffs.

Well I couldn't get Deekin to take any feats so that he could put aside his crossbow. All that strength and constitution was never really used. He ended 14 Bard 13 RDD I think.

No natural weapons, but he can use all simple weapons + rapier, shortbow and longsword because he has bard levels. Give him a decent magic quarterstaff (yes, a quarterstaff) and he should MASH.

Oh, but he's a Kobold... damn...

Give him a rapier then, and he'll use it twohanded, get 1.5x his huge STR bonus and THEN he'll MASH

there's a really good long sword in act 3. I normally gave it to that certain lady from the first campaign (you know who- spoiler). but if you aren't using her you can give the longsword to Deekin.

Plus there are many other good long swords. Or use enserric. I forgot bards can use long swords.

I typically gave Deekin either maces or clubs, both of which he could use with a shield.

I hope you didn't actually use the True Name, however, since it changes the end story. Having her True Name (you could always use it if necessary ) and not using it at least up to the end of the actual plot of the game means you get the proper epilogue result.

Count yourself very lucky. I've encountered a TON of rather nasty bugs, including henchmen suddently turning hostile to one another and to plot-critical NPCs (very very bad), broken plot elements, broken NPC behavior, game crash bugs... you name it.

An awesome game. I just wish they'd worked out all of those annoying bugs (and this coming from someone playing on the latest patch, too )

The best thing about HotU is that it allows you to SetLocalInt on an object when you spawn it. You have no idea how useful that is. And they finally fixed DelayCommand, as you can see from the amazing in-game cutscenes, which is also bloody useful. Oh, and the Underdark tileset is great too.

I had bugs with the cutscenes with my old system. It was actually below the minimum processor specs. It was a P3 700. And 256 megs of ram, with a geoforce 2 MX400 card. I had a problem with cutscenes specifically.

This really only came into play in the cut scene before the final confrontation. Because it was bugged, I had to hit escape to get out of it. But this entirely skipped the conversation with the final confrontation, forcing me to finish the game in only one way. I'm avoiding spoilers here

No problems with my new system though. Or no major gameplay problems I should say. There may have been a minor bug or two.

I did find a grammatical error when replaying Shadows of Undrendtide the other say. In a conversation thread with Dorna when discussing her training. But that's a different expansion.

well anyways. I'm back to Folderol. I got sidetracked by a few games of civ3 and SMAC.

The only thing I hate is when my maps get wiped. I'm the kind of character that likes to search every part of every area and make sure I've explored everything with my maps. I don't like it when I lose them.

that happens to me sometimes. It means the server is lagging.

Unless you are talking about single player, then that would be a problem.
