	Senate Session 47 on NOW! Support Apolyton, buy Civilization 2

The 47th Session of the Viking Senate turnchat is now about to start in the chatroom #civ3dem.

So get in there and we'll start shortly. I'll be playing regardless of whether anyone else has joined (ATM just me and mrmitchell), but you're welcome to turn up anytime after we've started, and I'll check on the room every few minutes to give you the updated save.

3 turns in and it is obvious things are not good. Korea has built the Manhattan Project and Rome just did SETI. During these turns we finallygot Military Tradition.

I soon realise no-one we can trade with has spare Saltpeter. Meanwhile, the Babylonians continue to bombard our northern cities with their Ironclads. No problems there though, really.

In the south, Rome has set up a beachhead and captured our city of Bubastis. They thn march on towards the Polar Bear Club, where they are stopped in their tracks. For 10 years vicious fighting leaves two Viking Pikemen dead, but two Rome Guerillas, two MIs and a Legionary are killed. The Viking spirit lives on!

Now, on the east coast of the South, I have decided on a daring raid on Rome's other captured city - Mendes. This city is defended only with a MI, so there are several vet Berzerks ready to take 'er on.

Let us all wish them luck.

I'm not going to try to detail all that's going on. Suffice to say I made peace with the Americans and Greeks, and refused a demand of Russia so they declared on us.

Those guys are signing peace treaties amongst each other and then attacking each other most turns! And they call us Vikings the backwards Barbarians...

NEWS FROM THE FRONT

Our brave Viking Warrior have again proven they have what it takes against the modern enemy armies of wimps who hide behind their boomsticks.

Viking Berzerks took on the city of Mendes, viciously captured by the Roman pansies in the recent past. They killed a full unit of Riflemen and two Medieval Infantry to storm the city, loot 7 gold and ensure a Roman Battleship was scuttled in the harbour!

Viking spirit forever!

After that victory, things turned a little sour. We jsut lost Palace of Ice and Snow to Rome. They ahd been bombarded for years by Babylonian Ironclads, and had no chance...

Also, a new Roman invasion through the city of Bubastis has been spotted - a Transport full of Guerillas, who are now menacing the Polar Bear Club...

Don't ask me what's up with that screenshot - I just took it at the right moment... Probably my computer telling me this game is too complex.

And finally, just to show that the AI is idiotic at battle, despite facing a military idiot (me) and having an overwhelming advantage as Deity...

Yep, we got that city in the south - Polar Bear Club, back again.

That's where I decided to end the chat, right on the time the Poly Server went down for scheduled maintenance. Which is of course why I couldn't post this stuff earlier.

There is a Caravel newly built with two 'Zerks on it finally attacking that massively overrun Barb island to our east. With the Babylonian Ironclads finally gone, I thought why not? We have had several promotions with the two 'Zerks there already, and I will just keep ferrying them back and forth whilst I can for promotions and hopefully a little more gold to buy new defenders.

Battle of the Palace of Ice and Snow
Above, it is incorrectly reported that the Palace of Ice and Snow was destroyed by the Romans. This is another of the lies of the Roman press. The Palace of Ice and Snow was abandoned by Scandinavia for tactical reasons, but not before letting several thousand Roman backwards infantrymen throw themselves to death against its gates.

The Guerillas at Bubastis
There was a typo in the above report. It is not Roman geurillas that have landed near Bubbastis, but gorillas! They are like sick dogs. We will greet them and beat them with shoes.

Heroism at Polar Bear Club
The brave Vikings, with their extreme courage and valor, today liberated Polar Bear Club from the louts of colonialism. Our proud Berserkers rushed into the city. We beheaded every Roman present.

War Summary
The Romans are lost in the fighting. They are retarded. We have pushed them back on every major front. Their military is now the subject of laughter around the world. Our estimate is that the entire Roman army will be decimated if they do not surrender to us quickly.

Sure, I can schedule another turnchat.

This game lost a lot of interest, as, id you look at the save, we are a tech age and a half behind, and struggling for survival. We chose Deity BUT, as you can see it is easier to survive thanI thought, as the AI is really being idiotic in their half-hearted invasions. I only wish you could plunder techs from captured cities!

Once you are as far behind as we are, there's no hope at all.

Diety can be beaten, but you need a map that gives you an advantage over the other Civs; how much of an advantage is uncertain.

the process I am working through is the finalization of a game that nearly all parties walked away from

the Civ III Demogame (III) was a vaste experiment and we were found to be lacking in our battles with the AI.

basically we have been trounced... smacked down hard...

it was a valiant fight, lots of diplomacy, berzerker charges and a full on se6t of grand wars.... and we are far from being the most dominant civ....
