Surrender Chechnya? Either that or eradicate every Muslim in the region. Can't take any chances you know. The enemy doesn't appear to desire a compromise.

And Russians want?

It's not possible to translate it. The most closest translation is - we will find the f*ckers anywhere, they'll regret about it, despite it will be the last thought in their f*cking heads.

How nice
quote:
Those who fought among nazis against their Motherland are not patriots, they are f*cking traitors. The fact that few f*ckers joined invaders, doesn't change the fact that millions, majority of country's population fought against the invaders. That's why it's called The Patriotic War.
|
USSR wasn't a "motherland" to Chechenians, to Ukrainians, to Lithuanians or Latvians. It was occupying their motherlands. That's why many of them supported
Germany. It's sad, and some of the mentioned did a lot of harm to Polish people, and generally fought on the wrong side, but Soviet side wasn't any better. The fight between USSR and III Reich wasn't a fight between the good and the evil, it was a fight between less wrong and more wrong.

What would Bush do?
Nothing. Because it is in Russia.

Again, lets leave the neighbour beat his wife in peace.

****ing morons. What do they think the result of this is gonna be? Are these children responsible for anything? Do they want to turn everyone against their struggle? Do they realy think they can win a world wide war against Islam?
|
I doubt it is a "www" against Islam. But true, invading the school is not only immoral, but simply stuped; Russia is not cowardly Spain or Philippines, that has to be said, and its interests in Chechenia are more vital than of those in Iraq. Also, it will make them unpopular all over the world.
The only thing they perhaps they can count is that the Russians as a nation will get tired of war; but it is more probable it will have the opposite effect

People still support the Palestinians.

Because they are antisemites

3rd choice is only acceptable one in this case. Or deport them all to northern Siberia. I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but my sympathy for Islam has run out.

Don't judge entire religion by acts of some of its members. If the ulama apporved that en masse, or if the streats of Muslim cities covered in crowds scanding: kill those kids, or if in al-Qur'an it was written: invade that Russian school, You could lose sympathy to Islam.
You can judge religion
1) By its doctrine
2) (only partially) by common behaviour of its followers
quote:
They got no FOOD, and sooner or later, they're gonna get hungry. Want food...sure, I can help you with that....let some kids go, and its burgers and fries all around (or whatever ethnically pleasing food would be appropriate).
|
The children will die of hunger first. Also, it may cause canibalism, and guess who'd be the victims.Of course, eventually they'd have to give up, but first all the children would be dead.
My sollution: no talks, just attack. The less victims the better, but no sense whining for them.
Also, I have to bash Spain, Philippines and others for their behaviour. This situation is caused but their example.
quote:
Chechnya had full autonomy after the first Chechen rebellion. Islamist extremists than attacked Dagestan, a heavily muslim area of Russia that was content with the political status quo.
|
Which is not enough to blame the Chechenians entirely for the war.
quote:
And because Islam is a decentralised religion, even if one iman says that suicide bombers will not go to paradise but will rot in hell, another wanting to push his agenda will give his blessings to them.
|
That's another reason to allow to build the pan-islamic theocratic state, ressurecting caliphate
quote:
Just one thing - it seems women play a bigger role amongst Chechen terrorists than in the ME, or am I wrong? Are there any reasonable explanations why this is the case?
|
Often these are widows after Chechnian men slaughtered by Russians
quote:
Saving the children should take priority over storming the school to look tough. If the Russians fancy their chances at a successful assault, then by all means go for it.
If an assault can't be carried out successfully, then don't do it. Negotiate, let it drag out. The children's lives are top priority.
|
I don't know if I can agree. Negotiations, especially succesful, mean that they can be successful. And we should not let the terrorists to get that feelings. It's not a matter of children of this school only, but also of the children in other schools. The objective is to teach the attackers they'll get nothing of using such means.

Russian army certainly isn't much weaker than the American army

Before Iraq, I'd laugh of that
quote:
You are confused. By American rules, in order for Russia to prevent Chechen terrorism, they'd have to invade Bulgaria. It's as simple as 2+2=4.
|
Nice one. But... Bulgaria is actually pretty close to Russia.
Was the choice of it intended, is it another depth of this joke, that by helping Russia, USA would mean attacking its friendly state?
Of European states, Poland seems to be the most pro-Chechen. At least used to be.

And you believe there is a significant difference? Yes, the American army has better equipment and technology, generally. There also seem to be less stupid problems. However, in terms of raw firepower, there's no real difference, and that's not counting nukes (if you count them, both USA and Russia can obliterate each other or anyone else).
If there was a conventional conflict between Russia and USA with full raw power of both countries, it would result in near-total annihilation of both, though America would win.
And to your edit, Russian biggest problem is of course that they are a conscript army, indeed. But don't underestimate the power of Russian infantrymen with AK-47s. They wouldn't be easy target practice for US Marines with M16s. |
If there was a war between Russia and the US, France would be destroyed because that is where the battle would be joined as the US would once again have to stage in Britain to retake a lost continent.

Why?
Could it be that the press wants to portray the Russians as bad guys and the terrorists as oppressed freedom fighters? |
Bingo! We have to pretend that there really is not an enemy that are mostly fanatical Muslim terrorists. If the media really emphasized this fact then Bush might gain a few points and we certainly cannot have that.
Anyway, troll aside, this should be the top story all over the world. It is absolutely appaling that this scum of the earth would use these kids like this. But I guess Coby Briant's trial is more important right now...

Again, the situation in Chechnya can not be won by military power, no matter how much effort is put into it. This is because of the simple fact that most Chechens aren't involved in this war at all anymore, except as civilians caought in the crossfire. Most of the terrorists are imported fanatics from abroad, who have drafted desperate young Chechens with nothing else to do. Al Quaeda had no influence in Chechnya before the war, and as the russians wreak havoc on the civilians, the terrorists will find more and more volunteers for revenge actions.
And as I said before, the simple solution is to restore law and order. This, however, requires that the russian army stops playing its own game down there and instead start to do what they are supposed to do. But there is little indication that this will happen. |
But Russian army already withdrawn from Chechnya. IIRC there staitioned less than 25 000 regular Russian troops. It's less than two divisions. For a region with population over one million, it's not a something unusual, if you ask me. I believe in my region (with population over 1,5 million) located in the middle of Siberia staitioned more regular troops than in Chechnya. In Chechnya oder maintains by local police forces made of local population. Ironically most of them fought against Russians in first Chechen war.
But the problem is that foreign supporters of terrorist s would never betray their brothers in arms from Chechnya. There is no way in hell that Osama interested in peacefull Caucasus and will withdraw from there. So without extermination of their forign brothers and sponsors we would never defeat them. And I think that Russia should cooperate with foreign countries to fight terrorism more actively. We can't, and no one can win this fight alone.
