How about we send them something like this right away:
quote:
We have located a foreign probe team in the area around Mendelev College, and they claim to belong to your faction. We will immediately destroy it unless you can quickly provide us with confirmation that it is indeed your unit, and an explanation of what it is doing in our territory without prior warning.
We do not wish relations between our factions to deteriorate, which is why we are giving you this opportunity. But you must realize that a hostile probe team on our soil is an extremely sensitite issue, and in blatant violation of the Modo doctrine.
|
If they fail to answer before the turn is up, we may have the option of attacking and destroying their unit with our crypteia in Mendelev College, depending on where their unit is.
Of course it may have withdrawn back to its transport, in which case it is entirely safe.

Unless somebody objects, we should do that. They'll probably send a swift reply and assure us that it is theirs and that it'll be out of there next turn.
Btw, maybe we should mention that we are sending agents to destroy the probe team, since we can technically do that without causing a vendetta.

As for the other Angel inquiries, how about a few quick replies:
On their question two weeks ago:
quote: Regarding your flotilla nearby our coast. May we ask the content of it, and in case a transport is included, it's cargo?
It sounds a bit strange that this cruiser force sails south instead of hunting down the ships of the Corporation you mentioned. Is your navy that overstretched compared to theirs? |
That cruiser force (no transports) was scheduled to head north up your west coast. And our navy isn't overstretched at all - otherwise we wouldn't be able to go after Morganic ships on the other side of Planet.
The Morganic threat has already disappeared though in the meantime, and we no longer require to sail near your west coast. We appreciate though you were willing to consider our request, and hope you will be as open as us too if you want to pass through Spartan territorial waters.
(little hint towards their probe team near Mendelev College )

As a first reply to their queries in the Research and Technology forum:
We are glad to confirm receiving Intellectual Integrity. And don't worry, as we speak, I'm about to go to the foundation ceremony of the Citizen's Defence Force. So you can certainly trade this technology forward next year.
As to your request for the cruiser hull, we are currently discussing what we could ask in return (what do you have?). You do have to understand though, at present the Federation is still the only possessor of this ground(ocean)-breaking naval technology. And there's no way we want our advantage to fall in enemy hands as soon as we trade Doc:Ini to you. Therefore we're wondering if you would be willing to accept a permanent trade embargo as condition for any deal?

Does the Spartans plan on trading Intellectual Integrity with their ally Zakharov? Or even Lal?

I think it's kind of silly of them to attach additional condition to a trade we agreed on such a very long time ago. We should be able to play this in our favour. If they wanted a trade embargo on this tech, they should have explicitly told us so. Why should they be allowed to change contracts at will?

I haven't yet posted the message below in the Angel forum, so if we want we can still change it. In the turn I have given IntInt to Zak, but not (yet?) to Lal, but we can still can before sending it on. Do we want to offend the Angels though. As far as I'm concerned, we can give anything we want to our submissive ally Zakharov - it's not the Angels' business. But Lal is something else... After all, if they wanted to the Angels could have traded Lal IntInt in their turn already instead of sticking to a temporary embargo, and then who knows Morgan could have stolen it from them with that Gator.

"Yeah, we had already started wondering about that as well, as nothing had been mentioned on that. We arrived at the conclusion not to trade your tech to the Peacekeepers. We did transmit Intellectual Integrity to the University though, as they are our submissive ally and thus we share a mutual credit reserve (their cash sits in our central bank). For you this internal Sparta-University exchange doesn't matter, as other factions aren't allowed anyway to conduct any diplomacy with the University Protectorate unless with Spartan supervision and permission."

GeoModder replied this as reaction to the Doc:Ini query:
quote: Col. Maniac,
It is for the Spartan fear of the spreading of privileged technology that we asked to buy a hull, not the technology itself. If we intended to distribute this hull, we would need to go to great lengths before any other faction would have the ability to construct cruisers as well.
Also, may we inquire what other technologies you have available for trading? It is hard to ask for specific ones if nothing is known. I suppose Doctrine: Air Power and Synthetic Fossil Fuels are two you already have, but for the rest...
Regards,
IT GeoModder |
Could we give them our full list of techs they don't have? Since they're pacted to the Peacekeepers, normally they should be able to see those anyway.
Oh yeah, as the turn has been forwarded, I'll post the message about IntInt in the post above.

GeoModder was here tonight. We talked a bit about the ACDG and apparently the Angels were just about to sign an economic pact with the Gaians. Should we offer a pact ourselves to keep the Angels out of the Axis of Weasels? They'd gain infiltrator info on us then though...
Oh yeah, Geo says you can't frame a human faction. And Yang doesn't want to talk to the Angels. So I don't see a way to create war between Yang and Morgan and prevent them from getting D:AP from him, except for hoping that Yang doesn't want to talk to Morgan either.
I sent this little PM btw back to Geo, just to give an official reply to the Angels about that probe team, before we forget about it.
"We treat University territory as Spartan territory, and also officially apply the Modo Doctrine to University bases.
Also, as noted in our reply regarding Intellectual Integrity, since the University has submitted to us, handing over their sovereignity to the Federation, we disapprove of all diplomatic deals between the University and other factions unless under Spartan supervision and permission. "

No one has discussed the Angels' latest messages, and I assume it's important to send something fast, so I replied these:
In reply to their tech query:
quote: The techs we have for offer are:
Nonlinear Mathematics (C2)
Polymorphic Software (D2)
Doctrine: Initiative (E4)
Synthetic Fossil Fuels (E4)
Doctrine: Air Power (E5)
Secrets of the Human Brain (D2)
Googlie prepared a nice screenie showing them all, but unfortunately I don't know how to attach images here.
With the turn forwarded, activity has plumetted in the Spartan Federation. So things would probably go faster if the Angels told what you have for offer in return for these techs. (Unless of course activity is low at your side as well) |
In reply to their questions regarding the Gaian war:
quote: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But checking our compiled maps of the probable area there seem to be multiple ways of passing through.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then we must be thinking of different areas as far as I can tell.
The real reason for attacking the Gaians is in fact our announcement in the turn tracking thread:
"Lord Chaos, your collaboration with our mortal enemy, the Corporation, has gone on long enough. From this day forward, our Vendetta extends to you!"
Relations have always been bad, and on top of that they pacted with our enemies, so we attacked them. From this follows we would be more than willing to sign peace if they broke their pact with the Corporation. |
