anyways, I got the game today. I had taken a screen shot, but I forgot to past it before I restarted my computer. Because after I left the game, I had a weird graphical anomaly. The graphics of the Apolyton background (I use MOO3) were really light and washed out looking. It hurt my eyes. So restarted my computer.
Performance is pretty good, but it started to bog down after many hours of play. Though I don't get the low memory errors I've been getting with KOTOR1. I'm still not sure if I should have v-sync on or off. I have antialiasing and antrisopy on 2X. And other graphics settings turned all the way up. And when the movies load, it takes a long time. Oh well.
How do I feel about the game? It's pretty good. But I don't think I like it as much as the first ones. This is despite many improvements. But despite some improvements, they had some fallbacks. By improvements, I'm talking about making the game more challenging. But then they fall back and allow you to regenerate vitality. What's up with that? That makes it far too easy. I hardly used stimpak as it was. Now I never use them.
It seemed like they might have improved the ai of the droids. But they are still so weak they fall in one or two power attacks from my vibrosword. The game is pathetically easy. Yeah I'm only playing on normal my first go around. I guess I should beef it up to difficult/hard. I didn't think a game could get any easier than KOTOR1, I guess I'm wrong.
The good thing it appears there is a little more thinking to go along. But still the game is so linear, it's difficult to go wrong. It's not like I had to go far to figure out what to do.
Also when aliens speak in their language, the subtitles don't stay on the screen long enough for me to read them . I have to speed read to get everything, but I tend to not remember as much when I speed read. I like to read the dialogues slowly to ensure I'm getting the whole story.
But despite some graphical, sound, and gameplay issues, the writing is top notch. The story seems interesting. Though the story seems a little confusing. Maybe it will become clearer as I progress.
I just hope I can see the sun! As in most role playing games, I enjoy exploring the outdoors the most. And I have yet to be outdoors (aside from a brief spacewalk on an asteroid).
P.S. I'm at the point in the game where I just arrived on Telos. Kind of annoying. All these "events" happen, and you are locked in dialogue and you can't save and quit the game. My eyes were getting tired, I've had enough for the day. It seemed to take for-ever to get off the initial "planet"- you know what I mean.
