Full PM-box? Change here!

- i'd vote for granary too! just keep 2 warriors within the core area

- as for euphorica: i'm pretty sure they have not left their city defended... BUT... if we move in (mountain, hills, attack), they have 2 full turns for reacting. with a defence in the town, our chances are around 45% of destroying it. but they could counterattack (and probably reload if it fails )...
so as much warmongerish as some people think i may be... i'd prefer not to attack.
however... i say go to the other mountain tile. if the city is still undefended at the beginning of turn 2, visit the hill's tile. if they havn't got anything in the town by then... be cruel *muahahahahaaa*

I'd suggest we approach via the Mountain as Sabre suggests, then have a look if it's defended. It will almost certainly be a size 1 town, so they cannot rush a Warrior. There's a reasonable chance they've got it connected to their Capital already, since China is Industrial like us.

Still, if we then move to the Hill and still find it undefended, then taking it out is a no-brainer. If it is defended, attacking across a river with a Warrior is not a good option.

By the way, Snoopy contacted me via PM to greet us in a friendly manner - here is the text of his message and my non-committal reply. Actually, I probably should have mentioned it before I replied, but no harm done I think:

snoopy369 wrote on 22.02.05 09:02:

My reply: I am here (at work), and happy to discuss your musical tastes with you.

What would you like to know, oh Euphorican?

And it looks like he just replied again:

Our warriors may have seen evidence of Desolation near our borders, and are interested in discussions regarding some of the tools we saw your warriors using.

Specifically, although we noticed your warriors had an interesting brownish sheen to their weapons, which we might be interested in learning, we did notice as well that the use of archery seemed to be unknown to them, and as such perhaps you might consider a discussion of shared knowledge?

So what do you think?

It's an even trade, cost-wise. I'm all for establishing good trading relationships ultra-early, so that we can get our core established unharassed. We may even be able to get a bit of a jump from a limited tech partnership before our immortals hit the field. I'm in favor of the trade.

McMeadows is talking to me on MSN about the tech trade - going to tell him we are feeling fairly good about it, and will confirm later. If we decide to attack them, the tech trade doesn't prevent us doing that

Keep in mind what other teams will expect of us. Certainly they will expect an Immortal rush from a team known as "Desolation Row" whose leader is the Grim Reaper. We don't want to play into other teams' hands here. An attack may be a good idea, but we should not be predictable.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I think we should wait until we have a fast moving unit before we start attacking. If we destroy a neighbour's infrastructure early in the game he will remain weak until we can get a good offensive unit to take his cities.

If we get the opportunity to raze and undefended city early, then that civ will be severely crippled and may not be able to recover. They certainly won't be able to REX as quickly as us.

However, I don't advocate starting a war just for the sake of it.

I think we need to try and get a city founded at the hill on the river 88 from the worker on the cattle. Good jumping-off tile for an assault on the 2nd last placed Euphoriscia, and allows a city at 9 from the same worker.

Thoughts?

I've asked Beta twice to add your addresses, clearly he has not yet.

Yes, I sent them Bronze working accepted.

You will see I moved the Warrior north onto the plains, so hopefully he can still move onto the hill next turn and overlook the town. They clearly anticipated our move onto the mountain and moved there themselves. I daresay they may move the Warrior back onto the hill next turn as a precautionary measure. Otherwise I expect them to move the Warrior south to explore our lands, hence the reason for building the Warrior in our capital first rather than switch to the Granary pre-build as previously discussed.

Yes, you're right. We don't really want to send the Warrior back for the hut now. I guess we didn't expect to see someone else so close. I was hoping to pop the hut with a town later.

Suggestions?

Team Euphorica have wisely kept their Warrior between us and their undefended city. This means his trip southwards has been delayed.

Anyone in favour of razing that town if the opportunity arises?

A yellow Barbarian has appeared, so I moved the just completed Warrior up north to protect the Worker. I suggest the Warrior kills the barb then continues to pop the goody hut, then returns for home duties.

Ok, another Warrior next for added security, or switch straight to a Granary?

Where there is a barb, there is a HUT! unless somebody else popped the goody hut and spawned barbarians..

I vote for a granary next. We should look at setting sugar city up as a barracks town for making spearmen?

Moonbars and I just played the turn on MSN together. Pottery finished, now IW in 14 turns.

We decided to play games with the Euphorican Warrior, keeping him near our exploring Warrior in fear of their town, thus curtailing his exploration south towards our lands.

A Warrior has been sent up towards the goody hut, while another has been sighted near Euphorican lands.

Warriors continue to be built to guard against possible appearance of other tribes from the west. Soon we shall commence Granary in the capital.

Oh, and 2 towns have been renamed at Moonbars' behest

Got spare money?

From looking at the map, I think our next settler should go to claim ground in the middle of the map - pushing west from our Capital. We should be able to secure all the coast areas to our east and north, if we can head-off the white team to the north (as the land isn't too hot, and we have stopped them exploring, this should be quite easy!)

Now the tricky stuff:

We are faced with a decision. I think these guys could function as our friends, and we can 'Immortalise' the next tribe we meet. Or, seeing as they are leading in score, we can assume they have a high population and are REXing, so there is also a strong arguement for killing them first.

I have started a new thread for Discussion of this topic

Increase Your PM Length

The current score lines simply means that the other teams either founded all their cities earlier than us, or spread them further apart than we did and so claimed more land initially.

I would think it very unlikely that within 6 turns anyone has grown to size 2.

As for the next Settler, that is still a way off and we will probably explore out west before that decision is necessary.

Latest turn played, again by Moonbars and myself. Nothing much to report - the Euphoricans continue to shadow our Warrior in fear of us striking their undefended town. Meanwhile, our Warrior has moved within striking distance of their goody hut. They have a Worker next to it, so we could bop him or hope the hut spawns barbs who kill him

Decisions - shall we build a Granary in the capital now or one more Warrior?

Shall we buld a Worker in Sugar Town or another Warrior?

Where should our southern exploring Warrior go next....continue SW in the hope of meeting new tribes or turn W to start exploring the fog nearer our territory?
