Got spare money?

I'm not all that familiar with the builder.

But you could use city tiles for the bridge. That way it will be stone (though it will be grey stone). And then use grassland tiles for the rest.

Have the 2 ends of the city tiles attach to the top of the grassland hills on both sides. And then have ramps so you can descend into the middle part. I can't remember that part in BG1 too well. I'm guessing you can walk under the bridge. this won't be possible in my set up. But you could at least be in the canyon on both sides of the bridge. iirc there were wild dogs as creatures in that map.

In fact, it looks like you only need one ramp, as I can only see one place to descen into the canyon.

for the city tiles you'll have to put an obstruction on both sides so you can't exit the bridge into the canyon.

You couldn't go under the bridge in BG.

I seem to remember some kind of fire traps/attacks on the bridge itself. Before you got to the boasting guy with the decent belt, and taught him that no matter how good your belt is, if 6 adventurers decide to turn on you then you're toast pretty damn quick.

This would be a lovely idea if there was a tileset that contained both city tiles and grassland tiles

I'm pretty sure it's possible. PR5 actually uses a city/forest tileset
spoiler(highlight to read):
in the Elemental Plane of Adventure
, so I wouldn't be surprised if a city/grassland tileset had been made by someone.

Or just make one yourself.

Yes, but then I'd need to make people use a hak. The module already uses CEP, and that's quite enough hak for anyone. Just a shame the CEP doesn't have any tilesets

Oh. Bugger. I haven't got CEP yet, because it's so enormous.
Never mind, just do that area last, and then wait and see how large a hak you will need to make all the other difficult sections work. If it'll be too large then you may have to compromise, but I'd be stunned if you could make the rest of the game work without using a hak of any kind. Keep up the good work though!

I've been playing BG 1 again (Damn you Jamski ), and have noticed that, with relation to the plot:

Plot spoiler:
spoiler(highlight to read):
Bioware should send their lawyers round to visit the bloke who wrote the Da Vinci Code.

It's a great game though! I'm playing as a pure mage, and have only got 5 HP at level 2, so that makes things very interesting. Still, I'm about to rescue Dynaheir (and then let her fight people on her own without weapons or armour just so I can keep Minsc), so things aren't going too badly so far. I just wish I had some decent offensive spells. 2 magic missiles, a Chromatic Orb, and an Armour doesn't last that long, even with Minsc, Kivan and Khalid up front.

There is a good argument for starting all mages as fighters, putting maximum points in bows, and immediately dual-classing to mage

For laughs, a possible new magic item for Folderol:

Torn Shirt of Ogre Strength
Clothing (Armor, Base AC 0)
Ability Score: Strength +4
Ability Score: Constitution +2
Ability Score: Charisma -2
Skill Modifier: Intimidate +6
Skill Modifier: Persuade -6
Cast Spell: Blood Frenzy (3/day)

...you know how, on Star Trek, whenever Captain Kirk's shirt got torn, he suddenly became invincible? Kinda like that. (The Charisma decrease is due to the fact that the whole ripped-shirt thing looks a little goofy. )

That wasn't working either.

Apparently it was a problem with my router, despite me opening up all ports in an effort to get it to work. I ended up disconnecting it and connecting directly to the internet from my computer, and it worked.

It is yarr and woo though?

Now that my exams are done it means I can devote a lot more time to playing Baldur's Gate (again). Not to self: don't kill seemingly random punters just because it seems fun at the time. And don't flood the bloody mines without getting the people out first either!!!
I'm looking forward to Jam's version immensely.

it'll get better when you get to bg2. There's just so many cooler things in bg2. The game flows much better. I still play BG1 every now and then because it is the first. but not nearly as much as bg2.

I started BG again - it's not the same game.
I'm just up to the Lighthouse as I clean up all the bottom of the map (except, ahem, Durlag's Tower ) before heading to Cloakwood.
Will the Beregost smithy make you more than one suit of Ankheg armour? Just wondering... It seems as though two isn't enough.

OK I just bought NWN (yes I know, it has been out for ages).

Does anyone at Poly want to multi? I'm a total noob at NWN although I am an experienced D&D player and played both BG and BGII.

I'm prepared to play any kind of character, although I won't play PvP since I don't gank people and I don't like it. I prefer co-operative RP. That's one reason I'm asking here since I know most of you.

I have a stereotypical dwarf fighter (full plate, great axe specialization) that is currently at 9th level.

What I'd like is a monk, or an elf wizard or sorcerer, but if I have to be a gnome, then so be it.
