This weekend there's lots of action. The play-off finals. Can Alan Pardew *spit* get West Ham into the Premiership? COMEONPRESTON!
And a team of mostly English kids is taking on the USA.
First team players missing from the USA friendly:
David Beckham, Michael Owen, Paul Robinson, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Gary Neville
So only Sol Campbell, Joe Cole and Ashley Cole from the full line-up? (although Sol apparently wouldn't have been first choice if Rio and Terry were fit.)
Even the replacements are dropping out.
Stuart Downing, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Matthew Upson and Michael Dawson so far...
There could be debuts for Keiron Richardson, Peter "He should play basketball" Crouch, Luke Young, Zat Knight

Sunderland finished top and Wigan second.

And now the President of UEFA is backing Liverpool.

Also thought this was pretty funny:
quote: Manchester United have been warned by major sponsors Nike that a continued lack of success could cost them dear.
The sportswear manufacturers began a 13-year kit deal with the Red Devils in August 2002 worth up to £303million to the Old Trafford club.
However, it is reported that a get-out clause will allow Nike to decide in July next year whether to continue that agreement past the 2007-08 season. |

Just a thought for UEFA. They should change the Champions League qualifying rules so that the winners automatically get one of the places allocated to their country.
That would not upset anyone outside England for 2005/06 and stuff the FA (who deserve whatever bad happens to them anyway).
