I've got a question too...
I never thought I'd post a question on the old love life on an internet forum, but my usual resource for such situations is out of contact, so here it goes:
It's classic boy meets girl. I met her a few weeks ago and I was pretty sure that there was some mutual attraction. I saw her a few more times at social occasions, but not that often because we were in different class groups. So I decided to bite the bullet and ask her out. I got a 'maybe'.
I looked for a clarification, and she said she'd meet me the next day and talk about it then when she had a better idea. She didn't show. Next occasion - year ball: asked her to dance and she said she had been dancing for ages and needed a rest. I more-or-less said OK, went out onto to the floor and round plenty of other girls to dance with.
A week or two passed until I saw her today, when I said that a group of mutual friends were going to a quiz tonight and I was wondering if she would like to come along. She said she couldn't as she was too busy studying (our exams are in a week) so I then decided just to ask her straight out whether she was interested in me or not (I know, I'm not known for my subtlety ). Her answer was that it wasn't that she didn't like me, it's just that she was busy studying at the moment. She said she'd like to go out after the exams, but I don't know whether she's being sincere or not after the no-show the first time (she could feasibly avoid seeing me until the summer holidays).
It's been almost a year since I've last been on a date, which didn't go so well; she invited some random back to her place that night instead of me. So... I'm a bit off my game.
So, anybody want to rate my chances (or preferably tell me what's going on)?
Ted Striker, is she trying to play me?
Confused,

If you love set 'em free, if they were truly ment to be they will come back a grovel for your attention
Playing hard to get means one of two things; she's a gold digger or she's really interested in someone else but is dragging you long just in case they don't work out. And SHE IS playing hard to get despite all those excuse, we all know chicks are stupid and don't really "Study" or "wash their hari" or "get headaches"...
Anyway, here's the drill. Ask her out, plain and simple, for a time after the tests, and be sure to get a straight answer. I repeat, GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER. If she says sure or okay, sveet. IF she says no, as I suspect, ignore her and move on, but keep in mind this doesn't mean that she isn't interested, it just means she is playing hard to get.
Still, it is better to be the playa than the one who is played.
So, when she says no just go "okay, that's fine, have a good summer" and walk off... I wouldn't be surprise if she panics and tries to take it back. IF not, no big loss, she sounds like a slut anyway.
If she's says yes you go a whole world of other problems on your hand.
Just don't take maybe for an answer. To make sure she doesn't say that make sure to have a "hard date" set, no "you wanna go out sometime" BS. Also, if she still says "maybe" just say "fine, have a nice summer" as if it were a no, and gauge her reaction. If she tries to make an excuse tell her to "find out and get back to me, but I can't say that I'd be free any longer"... if she doesn't flinch, just walk off.

she might be playing hard to get...
ask her out one more time
but ask her when her next free night or afternoon is
and then ask her to lunch or to a movie..
like you have plans in mind.. don't be uncertain.
if you get another no..or another maybe or another put off....then "shes just not that into you"

Yeah Americans will tip at anything, and even some people over here (UK) will tip a hairdresser. I don't have a big problem as I believe it helps pay better those low paid workers who do their Job well, but perhaps does make them rather false.

I would personally move on with this one, she sounds really flaky.
I know in the past I've beat myself over some girls when it didn't work out and wonder what the heck I was so worried about in the first place.
The line is true, there are so many fish in the sea, no use trying to chase down one with a hook in it's mouth already.
