The Story Thus Far:

Germany allies with England. Germany becomes a democracy and is henceforth known as the Central European Union (CEU).

France, Italy, and Turkey ally to stay alive. France then backs out of alliance only to be destroyed by joint CEU, English and Italian forces (http://apolyton.net/forums/showthre...6092#post636092). Beware the spitwads!

After a brief naval bout with Italy, everything more or less cools down. Then Russia and CEU governments create a Baltic state (has nothing to do with France, France is gone). Then more friction as Russian and the CEU go to war. Russia captures Berlin, but then gets their arse whooped. This is a few months, at very most a year since then.

Don't blame you, it is a lot of reading, and often very little going on. However, Henrik and I were thinking about getting all the good stuff together for some good PBEM reading.

Also note, that due to the last war, the CEU is under civil unrest....

the outcome of the next election is still unknown.

Thanks alot for this brief overview, why did France break the Alliance? Stupid? Someone can capture Berlin and still lose? Questions over questions, it seems, I'll really have to read it all ... Yet, one last thing, why did you leave Russia alive?

The reason that he left Russia alive was due to the fact that if Germany had looked like conquering all of Russia then every single other player would have banded together to take him out, because he would have been too powerful, balance of power and all that.

You have to think politics....

The 'reason' I went to war was Poland... I was uniting Poland under my power and now they have a proper vote in the CEU. While I could have whiped Russia out plain and simple, that was not my purpose, and would have increased the likelyhood of war elsewhere when I didn't want it.

However, in all cases of me going to war, I have given 'ample' warning of one sort or another... which is why Russia made a pre-emptive strike. He didn't like the suspense

I think politics ... and I think in realistical terms on which Civ2 is based - I think - and well I just didn't think of the possibility that your ally could attack you ... the alliance seems well forged.
Yet, I think you knew what was right. Let's see what the future brings, when a German controls Russia and an American controls Germany

Russia had crap when I got handed the country, what you see is actually an improvement. once that damn anarchy ends you shouldn't be too bad off. russia had no engineers and barely garrison forces left after the war with germany. I think the engineers were stuck in the path of the german army to slow it down or something...

and remember, do so at your own risk. Nations like Italy can put national defense at risk by having too many rails in the hills being as there are so many of them.

Yes yes, I know and I got the point but I still don't understand why RRs on Forests aren't allowed as there they, too, do improve production??
Well, in a screenshot earlier I saw RRs that paved the way for the blitzkrieg of Russia against Germany. Was this the reason why you forbid them?

The only logic is, if you can build a mine on it, you can build a rail on it when its mined.

And the blitz thing is not just against Germany, but the threat of blitz against everyone. Save for the fact I was thrown into anarchy by the capture of my capital, I really wasn't affected that much. France earlier on on the other hand...

Plus it makes wars more interesting in my opinion. There is actually a potential for trench warfare now. But we'll see how it goes.
