Oh this is the old "My black friend says there's no racism against blacks so there is no racism against blacks" BS.

It doesn't work that way, boy.

There is no more discrimination in Gays Games then there is in Canada Games. If you want to compete in the Canada games then you have to be Canadian. If you want to compete in the Gay Games then you have to be a homosexual.

And this crap about "Oh these games will just create hatred against gays" is exactly that, crap.

It is no different from them dumb old crackers who said that blacks fighting for equal rights were just creating hatred against black.

But, hey, let's delete this thread cause ya called me a moron.

Yeah, let's cancel the Commonwealth Games cause all it does is give Commonwealth nations special rights and that creates hatred against the Commonwealth.

Let's face it. People hate the Gay games cause they hate gays.

Oh so I hate myself? Look my self-esteem isn't that bad. I dislike the gay games because it brings a bad image.

Nations and a specific group of people are a different thing... I think there should be Commonwealth games because it brings up the morale of the nations participating. The gay games do not do this, and only bring more hatred.

Gay Olympics?
First time to hear this and quite funny I would say

As long as it is not officially relatated to the Olympics I have no problem with it. If homosexuals feel different and want to make their own games seperatly from the straight people go ahead.

But I don't think there is any problem for homosexuals equally participating in the Olimpics. Luganis was a homosexual and world champion and Olympic winner. I can't really understand the reason behind that decission. I have the feeling that they are aiming in a homosexual orgy most than an athletic event but I might be wrong

What is next? The Female Olympics ?

Well, it has been said on this foryum that about 5% of the population is gay. And I can name you 5 shows without thinking that are "pro" gay shows or just have gay caracters in them. And the a normal person can normaly watch about a 50 shows a week. I guess the % question is solved. That's about 10%.

-Queer as folk
This is a true gay show.

-Will and grace
This one is almost there. The only reason homosexuality is involved is so they can poke fun. But it's done tastefully and I enjoy it nonetheless.

-Spin City
Carter's only on this show as a side character for comic relief. This doesn't count.

-Ellen
This show hasn't been on TV for years and tanked once it came out she was a lesbian.

-That 80's show
Who's gay on that show? I've never seen it.

-Sorti gay
What's that?

And there are lots more.
I'm sure there are, but I don't count any show who has 1 minor gay character involved to count. It's like having the token black guy and token gay guy now.

There are still only two shows on TV right now that are actually about gays, rather than occasionally involving them. Queer as Folk and Will and Grace.

I know this is REALLY really late to make this point, but oh well...

A boy can't go into girl scouts. Is that discrimination? It's called the girl scouts. The gay games are called gay games for a reason. The Olympics aren't called the Straight Olympics. If they were, that's another thing.

The Gay Games, formerly the Gay Olympics, was started years ago, in large part as a response from gay men to the stereotype that they were effeminite, weak, and unathletic. It also provided a venue for gay athletes who felt unwelcome in the often inhospitable atmosphere of the sports world. The idea was to create a forum where gay people could get together to compete, show off their athletic prowess, and enjoy some solidarity while publically shooting down an old sterotype.

That's a very worthy notion. In fact it's so worthy that I'm a bit disappointed by the whole thing. You see, if the games had been chock-full of real limp-wristed caricatures and mincing queens it would have absolutely brilliant TV. I'd have been glued to it.

Just imagine them flouncing off in a blaze of leather and white T-shirts, only to throw tantrums and slap each other at the finish. Or the gymnastics, punctuated by cat-calls of "B1TCH!!" . It would have been the biggest TV event since the moon landings.

The reality is worthier, but the world is a duller place.

I have stuck conservative. I haven't changed. I may have went from hardline conservativism to moderate conservatism in the last few months.

I mean what difference does it make if I am gay? None. Is it really a big deal so that you must squabble over it?

This was used to start a popular organization called the 10% society. No real studies have ever been done to make an exact count of gays, and most estimates have used surveys involving experimental sexual situations NOT actual gay people. I am sure if we just went door to door and asked we would get the right #s
The ideas of gay life are also way over represented on tv and in Hollywood due to the larger % of gay people involved. Go to some other areas of America and I bet you would be hard pressed to find any gays.
I am guessing the gay Olympics at least won't have the problems the Salt Lake City ones did with corruption of the Olympic officials.

Name a specific state or area.

I live in Iowa and guess what?? Des Moines by itself has four gay-oriented nightclubs, Davenport, where I live, has two gay-oriented nightclubs. There are gay-oriented nightclubs all across Iowa, with most cities having at least one.

And in almost any good-sized city in Iowa, you will find an established gay community organization.

And in any rural town of even less than 1,000 people, you can bet that there are still a few people in each of those small towns that are openly gay or closeted.

I believe that the world's population is 5% homosexual.

In cities, states, or countries where it is officially illegal to have gay-oriented nightclubs, they could be driven underground and operate.

And, in cities where there are no gay-oriented nightclubs does not mean there are no gays in those areas.

Gays are in every city on this planet.

I dunno if it is illegal here, but I hear courts around here issue warrants to shut gay bars down everytime one is discovered.

I know there are gays in this city, and they (I for one do) must feel bad that they can't even express themselves outside because they fear that the police might beat them up.

Infact, you reminded me of something that happened in Egypt. Egyptian Courts ordered several dozen people to prison because they were in a gay club.

Well in Iowa its also normal to .......... lol just kidding. Of course there are gay clubs all over in any big city and a few hundred people that are regualr customers along with many straight folks. Now how many regular bars does Des Moines have? I am guessing more than the % difference. A poor example, but one where I grew up is central Wisconsin. There any gays that might have been born there have gone to larger cities and skewed their % of gay population.Another area would be large retirement communities or even bible belt communities(excepting catholic priest areas ) I really doubt in rural towns of 1000 there are 50 gays or even 25 for that matter, but hey I am not a gay census worker so who knows. Perhaps its 30% and they are all hiding somewhere. Living the past 18 years in a high gay populated Madison,Wisconsin I sure became used to gay population areas. Now that I am in BC,Canada I certainly see less.
I think we should get Starchild to go door to door and count every gay member of the world Hmmm perhaps not since he would never get the job done once he made new friends
I agree with the less than 1% theory, but I think its a statistic that we will never truly know + or - 10%.

There isn't a gay part of town here, like in San Francisco... and the police are not somebody they would want to confront.
