Ever see Miller's Crossing? The Coen Brothers film? Apart from being a stupendously fine film, there's a character - actually played by the director Sam Raimi (who made, amongst other things, the Evil Dead series of movies and, to his eternal discredit, Spiderman) - who appears in the closing credits as "Laughing Gunman".

Get my drift?

The interesting moral to this little story is that the "Laughing Gunman" kills quite a few people - laughing all the time - until he, himself, dies. Laughing.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

This game is unique for me. I've never been in a MP game with a SS race and Nukes. I've never built a SS in MP before, tending to prefer spotless world domination games, and it's fun but I found it very tricky getting the right combo of parts built quickly. I had bnookmarked the GL where the 34/8/8/1/1/1 combo is the quickest (5 turns).

If Makeo went Space I knew I had to build the fastest SS as quick as possible. I did it in three turns but was hoping for two. The resources needed to build SS are incredible. I disbanded 50 or so units which was Leo's contribution to the ss My economy did the rest plus selling of uneeded improvements.

Thanks for everyone's patience. I was slow at this, mainly due to getting the units in the right spot for disbanding.

My SS arrives in 1840 and Makeo's in 1847; but he is attacking me and caught me by surprise (Magellans). I only had one unit in my capital when he landed but luckily his troop count was low. I think he tried to plant a nuclear device in my cap but it failed. Out of nowhere a paratrooper took another of my cities which was undefended so I guess this was meant for my cap but I don't know how he did it??? I took a risk because he seemed to be invading from the West where I fortified the shores but you can be sure my cap will be totaly surrounded by troops on my next turn.

AH, if Makeo gets my cap and you launch a ship with the above combo by 1840, you will beat him

Great game... should be over within 10 turns Hydey

Quite eerie last night. It was like George W. Bush advising Saddam Hussein on how to build the ultimate weapon, waiting patiently while he ignored the advice and checked out the info elsewhere, waiting even more patiently while he went about building it, then actually having to tell him how to launch the bastard.

Just an abberation. I had units out of cities derfending fortified shores but the invasion was only a paratrooper and two cruises so I made a chancy decision for just the current turn. It was stupid.

What's unit count anyway? Depends on the type...

Not sure what you mean AH?

What happens is when a session stops on your host turn and gets saved for the night anything I've built AFTER I've pressed Enter on my last turn doesn't always get into the save file. I really appreciated you giving me a few mins at the beginning of each session to check these builds, many thanks

FYI: All I was saying last night is that if you'd finished your turn you may as well press enter so that my turn comes around and then we could immediately save at the beginning of my turn so that all my intermittent builds get saved... Alternatively, just for interest and the record, you could use my save done at the same moment as you saved...
I think I'n going to regret confusing the crap out of you now

Anyway I think you said you still had your turn to play but if you'd be kind enough to check with me as you have been, before pressing Enter I'd be grateful. I've got some interesting things planned for Makeo
