strasbourg is too close to Paris.

well.. then so is brussels.

and to decide what's the capital of europe, my next choice would in fact be berlin.

why?
- germany is the clearly largest european nation (80 million, vs. approx. 60 million in GB, france and italy)
- germany also has the highest GNP
- summed up, frankfurt (germany) has the biggest capitalisation of europe, except london, which however is in a separate civ in your scenario.

so in my opinion: berlin as capital. münchen (=munich), hamburg and frankfurt as further cities (and please use the native spellings of the cities)

Not possible with current editor options.

I think there's a smaller scenario like mine, fortunately. I've seen screenshots but never actually found the scenario.

Russia in general should be sperate from all the other East Europeon states, and relys on resources from other countries, (they havn't got enough resources for themselves)
Monglia Could be under russian, but definately not under china, they dont have anything similar in culture, stature, or eceonomy, like china does.
Taiwan, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Guong Zhou are all similar in growth, size and economy status, etc etc...

Hope this info helps

Brasil capital is Rio de Janeiro??? Tired of ads?

Hello, I´d like to post something....
Brasil´s capital is Brasilia, not rio de janeiro...
And also the new president is Luis Inácio Lula da Silva, or just Lula da Silva.
BTW, what is the config of your computer, man? To run such a big map so quickly... how much Mghz and ram.
I really think you should have some kind of Independent nations... for example:
Chechenia( a single city with few guerilla units inside and lots outside fortified in mountains, just between a russian road leading to an oil colony)
South Ireland´s IRA
Colombia´s Farcs(a guerilla group that wants to make colombia comunist, and have one town near the border and guerillas and one or two tanks)
And some more guerilla in africa.
has anybody tought on the possibility of making the old WW2 aircraft carrier?
See ya!

Russia is only short on rubber. The rest they can procure from inside their own borders. They have plenty of coal, aluminum, uranium, and iron, and they have extra oil.

Mongolia is Russian.

I want to put Taiwan with Japan, as both are island nations in the far East that have bad relations with China and strong capitalist economies.

Ok, I'll remember the leade name. You have a better idea of what Brazil should be like than I do.

Keep in mind that I am including several other countries, such as Argentina, in that civ. I know Brasilia is the capital of Brazil, but Rio de Janeiro is much bigger and more famous. I'm not choosing the capital of Brazil here, I'm choosing the capital of Southern South America.

well, i'm not expert on north american history. but iirc, more than half of the present USA was either spanish or french. and also a big part of canada.

exact figures about canada (Source: http://www.maptown.com/geos/canada.html):
Population: 31,281,092
Ethnic groups: British Isles origin 28%, French origin 23%, other European 15%, Amerindian 2%, other, mostly Asian, African, Arab 6%, mixed background 26%
Languages:[B]Ethnic groups: English 59.3% (official), French 23.2% (official), other 17.5%

and because this is a "modern day" scenario, canada under english reign is more likely (but still not correct) than under french.

I know it might sound biased, but why not Buenos Aires? It is one of the largest cities in the world (together with NYC, Tokyo, London and some others). In the city and it's closest suburbs live approx. 12 million people, nearly as twice as much as in Rio. I'd rather not discuss which one is more famous, I guess that's more personal.
I know it's just an incredibly minor issue, but still...

Oh btw, I might release a 100x100 map "preview" version in January. Reasons for this:

1. It allows you to play sooner
2. It allows the community to see the rules I have planned and comment on them.
3. The whole thing can be done quite fast. 100x100 maps are 1/5 or 1/6 the size of giga maps, and also, more of the cities I will be placing are big and well-known. I'll be able to do Europe and North America almost without an atlas.
4. Some people don't want a huge turn wait anyway.
5. Having something actually released draws more feedback, and thus creates a better scenario.
6. I am damn tired of placing Siberian and Kazakhstani cities.

So it seems like a good idea to me. Mencey's 100x100 map will be used. (Marla's for the big version)

This is going by really fast. I just started an hour and a half ago on the "preview" map. I'm doing the most tedious stage, placing cities. I already have Africa 60% done, Europe done, Australia done, North America 30% done, and Asia 40% done. I go on break next friday, but I'll be in Cincinatti and unable to work for the first few days. After break I have exams, but then things will be good again.

JW: if you don't get too tired, it would be nice to have the a 140x140 world map version of kal-el http://apolyton.net/forums/showthre...&threadid=68517

i won't even try the giga map (not with a P-III/450) and 16 civs on 100x100 is slightly crowded

Excuse me if I've missed anything in this thread which makes the following message irrelevant or stupid:

Regarding the Middle East: This is an area of world which is of great signifigance to the entire globe, especially in these "war on terror" days, and it is very important to get the crack and fissures between states right. There should be no huge Muslim bloc, as one does not exist in real life. The most simplistic way to break it down would be:

1. Israel allied with US
2. Iran should be on its own in my opinion, or with Russia.
3. Iraq should be on its own, maybe allied with Venezuela and other disliked states...
4. Jordan, Syria and Egypt could perhaps form a "moderate Islamic bloc"
5. Pakistan with China or the US
6. Afghanistan torn between the Pakistan-Iran-Central Asian blocs, with American/NATO troops floating around...
7. Saudi Arabia and the gulf states should either be their own bloc or with the US.
8. Turkey should arguably be on it's own.
9. Sudan should be with whomever is on the side of the "terrorists", if you're including that in the scenario.

Life is complicated in the okiumene...

If you're still working on this, here's a few tiny corrections... sounds good for the most part, though...

Persia/Iran - President Khatami or Ayatollah Khameni. Musharraf is the President of Pakistan, a cold war nemesis of Iran...

South Africa is Thabo Mbeki
Central Africa, maybe Joseph Kabila? There's hardly a secure leader in the entire region though...
India - Atal Behari Vajpayee is the current Prime Minister.

Have you considered:
Olesegun Obasango of Nigeria? (relatively powerful)
Hugo Chavez of Venezuela? Venezuela is a major oil exporter and Hugo Chavez is a maverick, and a real character... he survived a coup attempt backed by Washington.

And then, Hu Jintao is a new supreme leader of China.

Is Indonesia included? Megawati Sukarnoputri is the leader.

I think that San Paulo should be the capital city, its the biggest city of the biggest country in the Mercosur, even though I think that Rio represents better the brazilian culture, San Paulo is more like an industrial city.
The forbidden palace could be in Buenos Aires, because that would diminish the corruption in the southern cities, and because Buenos Aires is the second biggest city in South America, San Paulo has 16 million inhabitants and Buenos Aires 13 million inhabitants.
In that way, you would have the capital city in the biggest country, and the forbidden palace in the other main partner of the Mercosur.
