3650BCE played.

Since we decided to road south, I moved the worker directly south.

A map screenshot was emailed to everyone.

No. The warrior was on a hill so moving him didnt uncover any new territory.

Actually, where the warrior is located right now, I think our second city should be founded just to the south-west of were he's standing (at the tip of the landmass) -This would be the perfect distance between the two cities without any workable terrain overlap.

What do you all think?

That location sucks, but we dont have many choices.

------------------------

Possibly bad news :

In the screenshot I sent you, if you look on the warrior, and go two tiles SE you will see that on the SE side of that plains tile there is a slightly brighter patch of land. This means one of two things : Desert, or Flood Plains. Pray for the latter, since it is an indication of a river.

hmm I did not see that. And if we do have limited places to build cities we should build them to take advantage of all the plains squares possible. It is better than desert at least.

Well - we can't build until the settler is ready, and by then, Willy the Wandering Warrior will have opened up the territory.

I suspect its desert down there (fingers crossed that I am wrong), in which case we may not have a lot of choice on the second city site and Diss' recommendation is good. If it is a desert, let's hope it's a small one. I guess we will soon see..

Stay tuned - same bat channel - same bat time.

3600BCE report :

Second warrior done and sent south(it's quite obvious that there is a sea after that mountain on the north, so I didnt bother to explore there).

The future, as agreed earlier :

The city will grow in 2 turns and then we should change the third tile from the cow to the second game. We should continue building 3 more warriors before switching to a settler.

Btw, that white patch of land was a desert, but it's not the beginning of a big desert because it's surrounded by other plains.

Good news about the desert.

BTW Eli - awesome job by you and Diss on the turnaround time for our moves.

It's interesting to keep track of it on the two threads on who has the move. It's also interesting to note the fast and not-so-fast teams.

Thank God it's only a 1-tile desert!

Concerning the warrior to the south-west (Willy) - I think he should head for the hill top directly south-southeast of his current position in order to get a good look at the surrounding terrain.

I second the Beta's comment about the excellent turn-around time!

Tired of ads?

Concerning the 3rd Warrior that will be built in 4 turns:

Maybe we should give some consideration to having him fortify himself in our Capital...just to be on the safeside and have some sort of garrison present in our Capital.

I for one would rest easier knowing that we have some kind of unit guarding our only city.

The city will revolt without a garrison when it reaches size 3, so we'll need at least one unit there.

IMO it should be the last and fifth warrior(we should also consider building a spearman instead of the last two warriors).

We allready have Bronzeworking? If that's the case, then COOL! Let's build a spearman then - I suggest building the Spearman after the 3rd Warrior is complete.

I still have a nagging feeling we are on an island. So I concur building the spearman vice a warrior. Because it won't be as useful to have so many warriors roaming around a deserted island . but it is still possible we are on the top end of a peninsula. The civ3 map generator likes peninsulas.

We might run out of stuff to build. I was hoping for faster city growth rate (hopefully after the 10 turns we can grow faster with the cows) Hopefully once we complete building roads to our next city site we can improve that cows (which we can use in a few more turns). Unfortunately it will take a while to get irrigation up there. So this is a major project to say the least. So I can understand if you guys want to keep roading.

I say - let's get Willy to the hill to the south - that should give us a good idea of whether we are on an island. I suspect not. Even when I have built an archipelago world in Civ 3, it was just stringy continents. I sugggest we have had the good luck to be at one end, as opposed to stuck in the centre (center for you in the U.S.) somewhere. When we find out - we can make the call on the spearman then. The geography will also dictate whether we stick with the roading program, or resort to irrigation.

I gather Warrior number two - lets call him Tim - will head down the east side of the peninsula/continent/island/who knows ???

I have been playing the Persians in some C3 games lately - and yes Eli - I am impressed. I also find an early style of play advantageous. I am starting another thread regarding 'first contact'.

I must say the southern half of the land looks like it's coming up. It's either an island or a peninsual where the land continues southeast.

1 more turn will give us better indication. Our warrior will perch atop the hill and get a good view.
