It sounds like everyone in the FA is convinced war is inevitable. So I guess there's no solution.
Did we try our best? Maybe. Are we going to quit? Yes, because our ego will not allow us to live next to a bully.
I would like to point out again that, unless CDG lands are worse than ours (unlikely), an Immortal attack, if it comes, will probably ruin us no matter how hard we try to defend (poprushes and all). This is definitely scary. The goal is therefore to work to avoid this war at all costs, or delay it as long as possible. Screaming for "adequate defense" is hardly a solution.

3 NMs versus 6 Warriors is of course an unfair comparison; 3 NMs = 90 Shields = 9 Warriors, which would soon upgrade to Sworsdmen.

Most Civ3 players find a particular game "boring" when their start location is not that great. Just a guess.

Warrior Code: 3
The Wheel: 4
Iron Working: 6
Again, we lose out in Beakers. This is just as though we were to gift them 20-30 Gold right now. There is no tech devaluation to consider here, so any way you look at it we're losing Commerce on this deal.

Here's a draft of the proposal to CDG
------------------------------------------------------------------------
We propose the following:
Immediately upon both parties agreeing to this proposal:
Apolyton agrees to give CDG Warrior Code and The Wheel.
CDG agrees to give Apolyton Iron Working. This trade is to happen on the first turn in which both parties have acquired the Technologies required for this trade.
No Trade Clause
Neither Apolyton nor CDG may trade any technology acquired from the other party by this agreement to any other nation for the duration of this agreement.
The Goodie Hut Clause
Because of the likelihood that one of our nations will uncover one of the listed trade technologies before this agreement expires, this clause has been added as insurance to help the unlucky party.
Should either party discover any technology in a "Goodie Hut" during the duration of this agreement that party shall give the technology to the other party.
Should the Goodie Hut technology be Iron Working, CDG shall additionally research Horseback Riding and/or give it to Apolyton on the turn it is acquired or the turn in which this clause is activated.
Should the Goodie Hut technology be either Warrior Code or The Wheel, Apolyton shall additionally research Horseback Riding and/or give it to CDG on the turn it is acquired or the turn in which this clause is activated.
Should the Goodie Hut technology be anything else than what is proposed in the trades above; then the Civ that receives it must give that Tech to the other Civ, but is free to trade it with whomever they chose as long as the give it to the other Civ first, and no further research requirements shall be made.
Furthermore, should any additional Goodie Hut reveal, after one party has been required to research Horseback Riding, technology that is included in this agreement, the party who acquired it shall immediately give it to the other party, and however no further research requirements shall be made.
Expiration
This agreement expires immediately after the trade is completed, including the Goodie Hut provisions and neither party has any remaining obligation.
This is the agreement in whole.
