Why no, of course not. What also doesn't happen(as much) in English is stuff like this:
In German-
sick=Kranker
hospital=Krankenhaus
ambulance=Krankenwagen
So a literal translation would be: 'sick'; 'sick house'; 'sick car'
Makes more sense than making up new words.(or is that knew words?)

BB
EDIT: Hope I spelled those right

Aaargh!!!!

SOMEONE (menitioning no family members) deleted my download file with the current save. And my Mac utility is screwing up and won't download, so I have to wait until I'm back at work Tuesday, download, zip, and email to the home comp.

Can't possibly play until Wednesday night soonest, which would mean upload Thurs. a.m. Chicago time. If someone wants to take the reins in the meantime, fine with me.

Really sorry for all the delay.

Done. Here's the zipped savefile... Have to go to meetings, so I'll post the turnlog later today.

Highlights
-- Got Republic from the French!
-- We are so screwed without a happiness WoW.
-- Trying to get a start on trade, shifted emphasis to camel building.

More later...

La Fayette, it's now up to you!

Siwwy Turnwog Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

"Wow, 1180 Ad already, guess I forgot to set an alarm," said King Soupy Wabbit. He approached the throne, wincing slightly as it emitted its usual farting effect when he sat.

1180 AD -- Surveying the kingdom, we hire young Elvi in Monty Python, Wabbit, and Fwight Wig (failing to notice the phalanx thoughtfully left behind by the estimable, clown-nosed King rjmatsleepers. We've got 590,000 siwwy people, 82 GP, and take 9 turns/tech under our current 30/70/0 tax stwuctuwe (in Monarchy). :hmm: We have more white goods at this stage than any game I've pwayed since my first couple Civ2 experiences evew.
Beeblebwox builds Pikeman, jump-starts camel by disbanding a Warriow. Pwess Enter.

1200 AD -- Ludicwously empty wandering twiwemes spot Tours (8) and Wounded Knee (8). Monty Python changes build orders to temple.

1220 AD -- Temple compweted in M. Python, settler disbanded in Wabbit (Stwaybow's rule). Income now equals cost @ 17 GP/turn. We hire 4 young einsteins in Beeblebwox, dropping the tech rate to 7 turns.

1240 AD -- Iwonically, Tacitus ranks us as the silliest, yet least happy, civilization on the pwanet. :sad: Pathetic!
Fwench demand Twade to continue alliance. We agree, then request a gift in return. They provide us with... The Wepublic!!! King Soupy Wabbit declares that this calls for immediate wevolution!! (atawa's rule) We change pwoduction from Wibwawy to Pikemen in New Chuckles, and fwom Wibwawy to Settler in Fwight Wig.

1260 AD -- Fwench capital now in Marseiwes. Fwench expew dipwomat befowe embassy can be created. Spanish buiwd Sun Tzu, Fwench switch to Marco Powo. Our civ is now a Wepublic!! They now call me The Speaker of the Siwwy, or some such.) D With no happiness speciaws, we are fowced to sewect a 20-10-70 tax stwuctuwe in order to cewebwate. Wesearch dwops to 14 turns, income now 1 GP/turn.

1280 AD -- Cewebwations begin in Wabbit, Siwwy Walks, and a 3rd city I forgot to note. The Speakew Wabbit is well pweased to note that it's easy to keep a Pawace under constwuction ((rjmatsleepers' Rule) in Wepublic -- no shield contwibution!! Two warriors board westbound boat in New Chuckws, hoping to find huts and such.

1300 AD -- Fwight Wig builds settlers. Twiweme finds Rheims (8). With no happiness WoW, cewebwations stop @ 5 pop. Sadly, we are still 7th in popuwation. But that means the Xinning can begin!! Convert tax wate to 40/30/30, yielding rate of 9 turns and iincome of 14 GP/turn.

1320 AD -- Siwwy disorder in New Chuckles. Oh, also time for wevowution. Consider breaking this rule, but take a deep breath and plan to rotate gov't (Smurf's Rule) to Despotism instead.

1340 AD -- Disorder in Goodie. Siwwy Soupy Emperor Wabbit sees we must sewect a tax rate of 50/50/0 just to bweak even.

1360 AD -- Bozo disorder. Must be someone quite siwwy at the Attitude contwols We discover Chivawwy at wast! Time to use -Jrabbit's Rule and sewect The Wheel over Banking (breaking STYOM's Rule) for our next tech. (Without Wheel, we are bwocked from the key Engineering/Invention/Gunpowder/Democracy path.) We stop the madness of disorder with a 50/30/20 stwuctuwe.

1380 AD -- Disorder stwikes Silly Walls, which is set to Xin. Zuwus build Mike's chapel in Zimbabwe. Wabbit builds camel, woads it with Hides. Settler disbanded. Camel might be good to send to Leiden (especially if you're a scaredy-cat wike the Soupy Wabbit and don't want to wisk an ocean crossing by twiweme).

And with that, the Wabbit Despot rises from the throne, steps forward, and falls down the steps.

--------------------------
Note for La Fayette -- Next oedo is 1420, so you can revolt out of Depotism next turn. Constant gov't changes have very different requirements, and that could be the killing factor in this game. Dropping back to Despo really sets one back!!

Suffering from ads?

When this is all over, we may want to vote on the most desired wonder -- I think that the Statue may rank high -- 6 gov’t options!

Hmmm looks like Nav & a boat chain may also be VERY valuable…

Note to self -- remind players of foreign translations of techs to take advantage of La Fayette & Straybow’s flexibilities…

It seems that my French version of the game dislikes the saves provided by the Wabbit.
I have downloaded and unzipped: I can see the map, but nothing on the right hand side of the screen.
Could someone make a new save ?

I think our best shot at winning is to capture a happiness WoW. To have a temple, marketplace, and a WoW in a city and still have it in disorder -- very diescouraging. All those possible production points tied up in the 20 - 30% extra Lux really adds up! (or, more accurately, subtracts down...)

And yes, the need for Navigation grows stronger with each turn. Our ability to explore and trade must be improved.

IMHO, maximum cleverness will be required to win this one.

* Six Thousand Year Old Man is perversely delighted at the lengths people will go to to avoid his silly rule.

Almost 1400 AD and we just learned Republic? uh oh This is starting to remind me of my very first Civ game, in which the Babylonians used nukes on my Phalanges.

Magellan in sight ! Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

Main events:

1400: Revolution
1420: Switch to Republic; 2 Sioux horsemen land close to Monty Python (we sell the temple inside)
1440: Sioux take Monty Python
1460: Our smiling diplomat breaks LF's rule and buys the city back (cost: 37g; income: 10g + 2 horsemen + 1 TECH TO BE CHOSEN BETWEEN: Astro, Mono, Myst, Navig, Philo, Pott, Seaf)
We choose Navigation and start dreaming about Magellan: we have 3 camels, which means 5 needed.
Research to ZERO (too bad: we were 2 turns from the Wheel; but Magellan would be so wonderful !)
1480: Revolution (well, we had to, thank you Mr atawa
)
1500: Switch to Despo and we go on building camels as fast as we can.
1530: French cancel alliance (and our whole fleet gets stuck in Old Chuckles because of LF's rule ); revolution (well, we had to )

Magellan can be completed within 2 turns if my successor breaks LF's rule with one camel.

I WOULD BE HAPPY IF THIS HAPPENS BECAUSE MAGELLAN MEANS 5 MOVES CARAVELS AND ... FREEDOM !
