Well, CH has definitely stepped up beyond just dealing with RP!! 
The two of us having been carrying the diplo load, and it just ain;t enough. I mean, I think we are doing OK, but GS would be MUCH better served by assigned ambassadors.
This has been one or our weakest areas... but I think the team would acknowledge that what CH and I have invested in this arena over the last few weeks has a high likelihood of return.
But I, at least, intensely feel the lack of ongoing contact with the other teams. Every time I see 12 or 24 hours pass without contact (or posts), I get extremely nervous... especially during the work week, when I am time constrained in both total time devoted and relative availability.
We can win the current diplo battles, but only with diligence, time, and attention... and then we can win the game battles!
Also, as CH and I have been so focused on diplo stuff, I do not feel that we are giving the situation the deep meta-analysis that it needs, nor the attention required for things military and economic.

I too expect some return from the diplo capital invested, even if our immediate goals are not attained. I'm actually getting an RL return too, as it makes me think more about everyday dealings with people.
T is right that the intensity of focus has inevitably drawn attention from other areas - but with good reason as we desperately trying to overturn our balance-of-allies deficit, perhaps a price for historical 'underdevelopment' in this department. It may be that earlier on in the game, the team underestimated the value of this area, perhaps assuming that the array of technical talent in the team was sufficient to win the game. It's certainly clear that that the technical talent was dazzlingly successful at growth, economy and military - GS is a superb Civ, but destined to be shackled by the dice before it even planted its first city.
So perhaps, the deciding factor perhaps is neither the economic/military mechanics, nor the diplomacy but the RNG gods. The tile count says that GS and Vox got dealt the worst hand by fate, and Lego the best.
Getting back on topic, I also agree that we should keep in regular contact with the other teams. This is starting to happen, I think.
As for more staff in the foreign office - I can only echo T's call. Until there are, I won't be getting to play any Conquests  .

Update :
GoW : I've had enough of them, and stick by what I said here .
ND : They've replied with some unnaceptable terms.
Lego : I asked Vondrack for Gunpowder, which was fun, as it's their turn today. (see log)
RP : I was hoping we'd have some news from them on their turn. I'll have to document the plan for them in Stormia and see what they think.
Vox : Beta has completely ignored my last few PM's. Can anyone else try contacting him - perhaps asking him if there's any trade arrangements they might be interested in, or even if he still recognises our existance?

maybe it would be better to contact Rothaeril (however you spell it) as he has been playing their turns lately. At the very least he stops by Poly occassionally.
I'll whip something up to send to him, k'?
what can we offer him? a luxury or two, invention, chivalry, monarchy (prefer not the latter)

Ok, I've sent Rhoth a pm, asking if they were interested in:
incense
furs
chivalry
invention
What I did not offer:
territory map
world map
monarchy
iron
I figured monarchy, don't want them giving it to ND or GoW (and thus they build the Hanging Gardens)
Didn't offer iron, they have a deposit next to one of their cities
Didn't offer maps for obvious reasons, don't want them to know our updated terrain.

A,
We are still trying to play it out, albeit under adverse circumstances.
We are forced to strategically withdraw from Bob, i.e., we got our asses kicked, and anticipate much heckling and abuse in the public forum.
We have decided to go quiet, with only politically vetted team responses in public.
Although you are no longer part of the team, you are inextricably linked to GS. We ask that you not engage in the flames for the time being (although we know that you do so solely for your own enjoyment / venting  )... we have, uh, managed the diplo aspects of the game suboptimally, and want to try to create a clean slate, and possibly deal ourselves back into a potential winning position.
And if you ever want to come back...

-I think he's also referring to stuff that went on more recently, in nov, dec, IIRC, in the main forum.
Although, I still don't understand why he would think that way. It seems our teams have quite different philosophies on civ and life.
