Con,
It seems you have had far more success dealing with CoD than I ever did.
Every PM I sent was twisted and sent back with a response questioning my motives.
I don’t know for sure, but it may have something to do with the PTWDG #1.
I (GoW), and I guess both Beta & Konquest (Vox), have had heated arguments in the public forum against Gathering Storm & Roleplay.
CoD & Python are primarily Gathering Storm & Roleplay members. Both of these teams are currently locked into a tight alliance in PTWDG #1. Vox did hurt GS early in the game, and RP is fighting for survival against GoW right now.
I suspect that Python & CoD may be working very well together as they have a common PTWDG#1 membership. While they may see us as a future enemy. (Given our PTWDG#1 memberships background for war)
Con, if you are happy to continue, I am willing to stand down as their ambassador.
Reading your correspondence, you definitely write better, and you may be seen as trustworthier than I.

Fresh off the presses reply from Arrian:

conmcb25,
As you guys no doubt noticed, our scout has reached your northern border. It is my understanding that the hut that was involved in the writing deal is south of Primate Central. Can you provide more precise directions? The current plan, I believe, would be for our scout to move 1,1 or 1,2 (as the numberpad flies) next turn, cutting between Primate Central and the city to its NW (Gorilla?). Let me know if you have an objections (I don't want to get in the way of a worker, or a settler team or something) or if there is a better way.
Second, with regard to Warrior Code, we're still discussing it. It isn't urgent, is it? We very well may end up doing it, but I think some of us would like to pop the writing hut first, and then decide what we want to do. Is there an immediate need for archers in Monkeyland?

Im not going to be able to answer till later today because of RL issues. So feel free to discuss while Im actually working for a change!

Using me as a reference with Togas in NOT a good idea
From the PTWDG #1 Spite & Mallice Thread

I very rarely post in this forum anymore due to the high volume of flames and hate-posts that are posted here daily, as well as the large amounts of lame self-justifications and bullsh*t that I have to read through to get to anything of meaning.
Spite and Malice -- the vast level of hatred, anger, burning vengence that my team feels for Glory of War cannot be put into words. Arnelos and I humored Aggie and MasterZen (two fellows I get along with very well outside this game) in their discussion of Surrender terms, and the discussion went well, but when it was brought to our team, I was nearly executed for even having the discussion. It wasn't something we very seriously considered, mostly due to GoW's lack of credibility, but after your nation has been raped, pillaged, and destroyed ... after being insulted daily in the public forums, seeing cities raized and renamed, seeing your captured workers renamed to personal attacks, and listening to the constant *****ing and blame-casting by a bunch of arrogant a**holes, well, would it ever be possible to have any sort of rational agreement again?
It's not. Every part of me knows it now, even the diplomaticl parts of me know that there can be nothing but mutually assured destruction with Glory of War. My people cry out for nothing less. I nearly lost the throne of Spain for being too reasonable with the enemy. My people hate them that much.
Just know, Glory of War, that every laughing, insulting, arrogant, blaming, snotty, underhanded, wretched post that your snide little fingers have written has been read by my people. And it has created a fire in them so fierce and so powerful that no peace and no surrender could ever be possible. Even a diplomat like myself and Arnelos cannot calm the flames.
There will always be war between us, and there will always be warweariness until Glory of War has suffered seven times the misery and abuse that Spain has suffered.
This is truely the definition of Spite and Malice. This is what happens when you "trash talk" a beaten and betrayed people.

Some RP members refuse to believe that their earlier in-game actions are the sole cause the the current war against them. (GoW perspective) I dont really care if they belive it or not, but I will respond to any post that says that GoW or ND are the aggressors in this war. Our actions are in response to early RP diplomatic aggresiveness (They call it negotiating from the postion of power) that made RP too difficult to ally with.
|
This statement is far more insulting than any of the silliness that Ghengis posts. I don't know if H_E is dumb enough to actually buy into this, I doubt it though. There's not a single person outside of GoW that gives this "explaination" for the war anything other than a scoff and a giggle.
But H_E and others keep preaching the gospel of "RP was a bully" like it's oh so obvious and oh so rational. Painting GoW as the poor, picked on Civ who was bullied by their much stronger very distant neighbors and couldn't possibly ever work with them... |
There are other posts around within the ISDG forum and PTWDG where he goes nuts at me again.
I have been thinking about using some of his quotes in my sig.
And just so you are up to date with my discussions with CoD.
I thought we were heading down the road with CoD with a full tech alliance so that all three civs on this continent could keep pace with the four civs on the other continent.
This meant pooling our resources for the benefit of all.
I wasnt negotiating lopsided deals...I was just saying that this is what we needed now so that our economy can get going, and we can do our fair share of study for the alliance.
They took it the wrong way and got upset....I have explained to them a few times that it was a misunderstanding. If they dont want to pool resources, then thats fine, we are more than willing to negotiate fair prices on individual techs as well.
We on Team Monkey are used to pooling resources with little regard to costs (eg Misfits PBEM me & Beta are in). I think Roleplay & Gathering Storm have a history of negotiating tech for tech at true value. It's just that I realised this until too late.
Basically Monty & CoD are ahead of us in tech, and they want to keep it that way. It's probably a good reason why we need Map Making ASAP, so we can send Galleys to the other continent. We are last on this continent because we met CoD & Monty last. Lets be first to meet the other Civs, and catch up.

Latest dispatch from Arrian (CoD)
My reply first:
Arrian
Ah dont worry about it, we will figure something out, your guy needed to get south anyway. Let me see where he is and Ill get specific directions. I have not been online much either this weekend, yard work, yuck!
Thanks for the info on the hut.

RE: RE: RE: RE: PTWDemoII
Damnit. I screwed up. First off, I wasn't online this weekend until just now, and didn't get your directions until now. Cort Haus, however, already played the turn, and continued the way we were already moving, which puts our scout on course to pass just west of Primate Central. We're smack dab in your cultural territory.
I apologize for that. I think we assumed that we'd use the flat land so our scout could move at full speed, rather than slogging through the mountains. If I'd logged on yesterday and checked my PMs, this wouldn't have happened. At this point, the quickest way to get him out of your way is to have him move south again next turn to get him around PC, then cut east.
As for the other deal, well, we're pondering how lucky we feel (with huts). It's a gamble, trading a tech for a hut. We could very well get nothing. Plus, while writing was a major gateway tech you guys needed to be able to research things like Literature or Map Making, warrior code doesn't really open much up (HBR, once you have the wheel). Also, with writing, there was the issue of the timing - you were just finishing up IW, and therefore there was some time pressure on us to get a deal done ASAP so that we all could proceed with the 3-way tech alliance.
So like I said, we're pondering how lucky we feel. One suggestion was to see what we got out of the first hut, and then make a decision.
-Arrian |
So unless they had a good angle we weren't getting much for the hut. I think we are gonna have to wait and see what happens and then ask them again.
And with there scout being right by gorilla, Im giving them these directions to Hut 1.
