Suffering from ads?

Well, if they do, then we have to be worried about CFC ealier than we anticipated. How about both CFC and Apolyton in their respective GA's duking it out? It could happen....

Tired of ads?

Well, at the moment CFC has little to offer them (they just bought Monotheism, so I don't see them being able to buy an even MORE expensive and valuable tech... that being Chivalry) and we're getting it early. I hope we can take advantage of this and get a good Knight force ready long before they ever build their first Rider. Between that and a large navy we can pretty much either stifle them or crush them quickly should they try to get antsy on us.

Im just kind of curious....

I have not been around a lot over the holidays so I may have missed it, but in a lot of threads I have seen reference to the war weariness issue/ exploit with GCA and if it went to a UN vote we would probably win 3 to 2.

Has anyone recently talked to CGN about this?

Maybe we should start greasing the wheels in that direction?

Yes, CGN is aware of our plan for the UN and they will vote in our favor. The same is true with CFC. Though it would not hurt to have another chat with these two just to make sure we are all on the same page.

Arnelos asked me to mention in this thread how we should try to keep all tech negotations between us and CFC an CGN seperate. If they are allowed to merge, then that will allow tech parity between CFC and us, despite the fact that we were trying to prevent that (since we will be doing more work and trading with CGN).

Let's get more discussion back into the appropriate FA threads.

Here's a note sent to Lucky (GCA) by miccofl (CGN)

quote:

To the Great Liar of the Catcharians,

I must apologize; our scribes and sages are unfamiliar with the event that you outlined in your greeting and their search has delayed our reply. We have met no civilizations greater than the ones we knew before your greeting. Perhaps you were mistaken. We find your second statement to be an oxymoron.

We are amused by your flair for the obvious. We see your words of peace and are distressed by the lie they represent and the deceit you have demonstrated by your embassy’s spies and your naval movements.

We have just met, but we have been aware of your existence for no less than a millennia. Your reputation has been shown to be wanting in honor by your enemies and those you have conquered. Evidence provided by them has demonstrated to us your will to use arcane and malefic magic on the battlefield. This is not the conduct of a civilized and honorable nation.

Your short introductory rhetoric of peace with its accompanying declaration of withdrawal has been shown to be a fallacy as your boats have not withdrawn from the obvious fighting zone and have in fact entered our territory. You followed your greeting with the establishment of an embassy with its accompanying spy ring. This further demonstrates to us your lack of honor. This lack of honor has established you in our eyes as a pariah nation, one that which we, as an honorable civilization must fight and resist with all that is in our power to do.

It is therefore my honored pleasure and duty, as Premier of Netatolia, to inform you that a State of War exists between Netatolia and Catcharia. The level that you wish to elevate the war is that of your choosing. We can assure you that if any units of your nefarious civilization interfere in any way with the operations of Netatolian forces they do so at their own peril and we suggest that your naval forces depart to the north as quickly as you can do so.

In summary, your clever introduction and subsequent self-aggrandizing has done nothing to improve our opinion of you considering your past actions. We see no need to have relations with your civilization, much less ongoing relations. We would rather war with you than speak to you. Let’s dance.

Miccofl

Nice! Miccofl does have a way with words. Now if he and his team can just get their military situation back in action to get that continent back into a bloody stalemate then we're looking good.

I thought the passage about them using a "magic carpet ride" to warp onto another continent was hilarious.

Why did he drop it ?

Given that Lucky believes only his team has been playing with any sort of integrity and honour, I think he is going to freak-out when he reads this.

CGN has the turn now.

miccofl tells me that GWT has killed all Knights that were at 2-2 of Boston. There's 9 Ansars at 2 of Boston and 1 wounded at 2-2; whihc means that GWT did not lose a battle against CGN's Knights in the Forrest. Looks like Lucky passed on some secrets or warring to GWT.

I ran a battle sim of what hapened. 10 Ansars versus 10 Knights in a forrest. A 4 attack versus a 3.75 defense. Which is pretty close to even odds for each battle. But, for GWT to win 10 in a row is like flipping a coin 10 times and getting heads each and every time. The following pic shows the odds and results of what should have occured.

CGN has counter-attacked the Ansar stack which was at Boston 2. Their first MI attacked and lost to a 5/5 Ansar, generating a leader for GWT.

They then killed 4 Ansar and another 5 retreated. The leader (GWT's SECOND of the game) was killed as well. CGN has gifted us the city for us to accept on our upcoming turn, teleporting their army home.

No, the one that generated the leader was knocked down to 1/5. It was then the last unit to be finished off along with the leader.

Actually, doesn't that mean that GWT lost 6 Ansars in the attack? They had 16 Ansars. There were 10 surviving Ansars (of which 4 have been mopped up).

So all told, I figure GWT lost 10 Ansars killing 10 knights and at least 1 med inf. A decent performance, but I don't see how it's cheating.

My understanding is that there was more than one Ansar stack and that all Ansar warriors seen on the previous turn could be accounted for (and none were dead).

Ok, then I missed something. Last I heard, GWT had a stack of 16 Ansars southwest of Boston.

Are you saying that somehow we know for sure that 6 of those Ansars moved elsewhere and did not take part in the battle?

You know, now looking at things, I think I know what's up...

GWT didn't lose any Ansar warriors... they had all 16. CGN on their turn killed 6 Ansar Warriors while the other 10 retreated when attacked (or perhaps some were on the retreated tile already?).

We get the save and accept Boston... we see a stack of 10 mostly wounded Ansar Warriors.

That would explain it. We know for a fact that what we see is AFTER CGN killed a good number of Ansar Warriors that weren't killed when GWT attacked.

I'm going on this:

quote:
miccofl tells me that GWT has killed all Knights that were at 2-2 of Boston. There's 9 Ansars at 2 of Boston and 1 wounded at 2-2; whihc means that GWT did not lose a battle against CGN's Knights in the Forrest. Looks like Lucky passed on some secrets or warring to GWT.

Followed by this:

quote:

They then killed 4 Ansar and another 5 retreated. The leader (GWT's SECOND of the game) was killed as well. CGN has gifted us the city for us to accept on our upcoming turn, teleporting their army home.

Sure sounds to me like GWT had 10 Ansars left after they killed the 10 knights (6 losses), and lost 4 more to CGN counterattack (for a total of 10 losses), with 5 retreating. 1 was already at B22. That leaves 6 wounded Ansars south of Boston.

If you have the save and can show me otherwise, great. EDIT: well, not great at all, of course. The more GWT casualties, the better.

Tired of ads?

Okay, sorry, let me clarify.

At the start of CGN's turn, there were 2 (3) stacks of Ansar. The one at Boston 2 was composed of 9, all but one damaged. The other was with 8 Ansar at Boston 2-3 and only had 1 damaged unit. The third was just a scout at Boston 2-2. That's a total of 18 Ansar, 9 of them damaged.

Now then.

It's possible that GWT destroyed the CGN stack without loss... however... they could also move Ansar from their fort city around Boston and would be able to attack the CGN stack. This is how GWT ended up with more Ansar than they started with last turn.

That being the case, they could have funnelled a bunch more Ansar from their fort city around Boston to attack the CGN Knights. Since it would be fastmover-vs-fastmover, no units would retreat. GWT could have lost 10 Ansar, and we'd never know it.

So all this talk about GWT cheating or manipulating the RNG or whatever is rubbish.

That was my main point, which I should have stated better.

Re: bringing in more Ansars from the fort town...

I thought the fort was 78 from Boston. If that's so, Ansars could reach Boston 23 from the fort city, but not Boston 22.

Damn, need to find that map again.
