come on now, dont be pedantic. as long as i have been here, the "anything-under-city" "bug" has been called "farm-under-city bug", since it is the same mechanic in the game.
i am aware that a mine under a city does make a strong impact. thats why i always was surprised you said you wouldnt use it even if allowed. but then again, thats why i kept asking.
id like to put this clear:
i will use anything that is allowed in a game. and i wont use anything that is not allowed. i want to win, and i want to win honest !
and in this game i was certain (not quite sure), i was certain that we had agreed on using "dingbat-under-city".
lets call it a misunderstanding here. but if you (all) care about such a thing prior to a game, maybe you should clarify it with the respective person insteading of laughingly ignore it.
after all, it was clear that i couldnt seriously have meant "farms only" in a game of mountain islands.
im sorry that youre the one, gary, whom i have to tell this this way. but i want to take this opportunity to make clear that i take much care to be aware of what is cheating and what not. and sometimes i just dont get clear answers by certain people.

now that may be the true misunderstanding here, because i was convinced that 3 times i didnt get an answer.

unfortunately, the definition of "trick" in any specific case is not at all clear.
but that is a different issue.
for me it was 'clear' what we had agreed on using it.

Ah I am back lolol, me too Quinns me too, especially in light of the new view of his knowledge and his keeping the ramping secret once again for his own use to beat unsuspecting oponent.... he is a member here I thought and with that comes the responsibility of sharing such tricks for an even playing field. He did not do this, no different than in GL which he used the rush buy swap the get top spot... nothing has changed Not a thing...
His response was childish as usual...Did not address the facts as usual, and does nothing to clear his name, nothing new there...
Math you asked yes about farm under city, cool you asked several times, yes you did. I said vote, Gav abstained and I said no tricks and Marcos said no tricks. You said yes farm trick, vote cast you lost 2-1. We then laughed about the farm under city on ice terrain.
Now explain where in any comment did you say mine under city? Not once, on top of that the vote was for use of tricks 2-1 you were out voted. I guess that means all tricks are not to be used.
Like Gav said for future we do not play tricks, we might if we all vote to do so. What happened would be like saying we can not swap rush buy settlers, then someone swap rush buys tiremes and says we did not say that... That's called splitting hairs, it is assumed no tricks means just that. And farms are not mines...
No biggy the game was fun and good company, and your welcome for all the tips.
Now lets play more and get you up to speed on all the online goodies.
It was a fast game too for four people, once we got going lololol. I of course was miles ahead in the pg until I ran out of land, which took about a turn. Both marcos and I were hard pressed to find even a speck of land until way later in the game
Be an interesting new game let's see how you do without the tricks this time.

i explained that above.
months ago i was talking about "mine under city" somewhere on this forum. and a few posts later it had been turned to "farm under city".
so, naturally, i took "farm under city" as a generalisation of all "under city" bugs.
you're saying it is not ?
okay, now i know.
and that trireme example in fact supports my point. as there you are the one assuming a generalisation to be legitimate, thus approving what i said.

|
certainly ! if it had been the way you say.
i dont want to heat this topic further, but this feels very much like a trial, especially before the rest of the community, so id like to take my full energy to defend myself.
well, i didnt read through all the logs again as i dont have them. so lets assume you indeed used the terms "vote", "ban" or something equally definite in this conversation and i just overlooked it.
doesnt the sentence "i will use it unless someone objects" indicate that in fact i had not gotten the point that someone had objected, that this was a vote ? wouldnt it have been your obligation to clarify that, to make sure i realized it was a vote to ban the bug ?
as a said. just defending myself here.

glad to read that.

Not a trial math never was just clerification on the rules, hence forth all tricks, bugs any known or unknown change from the tutorial or accepted "normal" game play shall be called "tricks" I am sure that has been made clear a few times. Even activision calls the swap rush buy a "bug" we commonly refer to all these things as "tricks"
I hoped this would not effect anyone friendship, appears the assumption to be right.
Till next time Path tracking, yes read those two threads I posted earlier on.
Dimytes it is part of the strategy thread, these things come into play and the people that use them need to be exposed. Flame it is not, far from it is showing that certain strategies like bug use and tricks should not be used and people who use them without opponents knowledge will be exposed period.
My post was in response to and post made that paul does not cheat, to be fair you must also, rant and complain about that too, should'nt you? After all what strategy was that? Did you complain about that? In fact you would have to complain about a lot of comments under your guidelines in most and all threads would'nt you? Now that you have set high standards for yourself and others we'll be keeping tabs. Talk about a high horse to get down from...
Rant heh not that either, read above...

never denied that. clearly the problem here was the path to consense before the game.

oh, i certainly believe you. i merely took it as an example that not all bugs are clearly illegal.
gav made a point though in that it is not voluntary. but i'll find another example one day...

not exactly sure if this belongs under strategy, but it is relevant for multiplaying:
blackice, you havent told me yet if using different language CTPs in an online game will cause errors. cause if not, why should modifying city names in the civ_str file cause them ?
also, blackice, could you please help me get my LAN multiplaying working too the other day ?
