For one, I sabotages Ludd's trade. Even holding to your thing, his other trades shouldn't have given him money. |
I lost all the profit from my trade in that turn, otherwise I would've been two tech levels higher, have a new wonder, and also a larger army.
But thankfully almost everyone else reconized what a benevolent leader I am and chose Griegoria to trade with so I ended up with a base of 1162 gold this turn, plus any that was left over from the previous.
[tax](6x7x5)+ [trade](175 x 4) + 252 = 1162
(Expect the same thing to happen to sparrowhawk this turn, now that he has the tech lead)

That would've screwed up 6 player's turn orders in this situation. I think the way Gamecube has decided to manage it is more intune with the strength of the other possible espionage attacks.
EDIT: And Spaced Cowboy's trade is right, too. He has a republic which means his trade profits are 4x7x4x2=224 and his costs are 4+7x4=44 which makes the net income 224-44=180
with his city income that brings it to 190
43x4= 172 spent on army
and 6+9=15 spent on cities.
190-(172+15)= 3 gold left over.
