I moved the thread in the Embassy for the time being (to a "storage" category that admins have) till we thrash out what we say.

I wouldn't divulge which faction we're dealing with, and I don't think we should even mention EthCalc.

the wording I put above was edited several times in the posting to hint (without saying so) that the AI had offered us 100 ec's for ind Auto (hence the passing over "50ec;s from the deal"

Also, in asking them to "waive the embargo on Ind Auto", if we then arev successful in selling/trading it to the Uni, we're nor afoul of any other restrictions (I wouldn't sell it to the Hive, though)

I just think you're giving away too much information. they needn't know, for example, that we've accepted the deal and will replay the turn if they disagree - that gives them far too much power over our current turnplay
(It was sufficient to say that the turn was paused pending their reply)

I also don't thinbk they need to know that it's the PK. Suffice for them to know it's [b]not[.b] the Hive

The edit tag's alright, I think it kind of emphasises how important it was - so urgent that I didn't have the time to write it without typos.

LOL - after all that the only versions of the post are the complete messages (I guess it doesn't save the edited ones, just goes to the original post)

Good proposal. Being generally in the Gaian camp, I would advocate coming clean and telling the whole truth to the Gaians. 50 ECs sounds reasonable. Or, if they reject that, we could then offer EthCalc.

And also, is there any way that we could get a loan from Lal before we get into a war with Zak and Lal next turn? The best part is, we wouldn't have to pay back a cent of it.

Well, of course, in parralel diplo-play you can't actually accept a deal to see what might follow

(But of course our Lal deal will stand, 'cos if the gaians accept, it's OK ..... and if they refuse, then we'll "contemplate Vendetta" which will also make it OK to execute the trade)

So I already asked the question, and got an 89 ec loan, and at that point I saved the game to await the Gaians' response

(The beauty of it is ... we'll use Lal's money to pay the Gaians for the right to trade their Ind Auto tech to Lal in exchange for Ethical Calculus, which we'll then sell to Morgan for oodles of ec's (and if they thought Gene Splicing was expensive ...........) as well as to the Gaians and Angels, which means as well that the tech we first steal from Zak won't be Eth Calc but something else .........)

I'm still feeling favorable towards the Gaians (not just RP), and part of me is still hoping that something works out between us, but the chances are looking more and more slim. No problem, the Morganites will also make excellent pawns-er, I mean, partners.

Absolutely. It's the only venue that allows us to transcend the borders of the emulated reality the game imposes on us. There is no limits to how we negotiate, (for) what we negotiate, and how we negotiate, as there is playing SP against the AI.

I noticed Ouro_something of the Gaians online, so I threw at him a PM too, describing our diplomatic predicament and with a copy of the message. I'll be off to bed, so I hope you Googlie will be able to sort this out. If they don't agree with our proposal, we'll just do the trade anyway and rely on the "deliberation of vendetta" clause - if we are discovered, that is. So it looks like all of our angles are covered
