How's this for size.
quote: Headline: Interfactiona Relations
Mister Mead,
the Morganites have established that they wish for further co-operation with the Spartan Federation, in hopes of countering a possible alliance between the Gaians and the Data Angels. There is clear support for this co-operation within the Spartan ranks, but your actions so far have been puzzling. Mainly because there hardly are any.
We have observed and monitored the Virtual Embassy set by Major Googlie with interest and earnest, but Morganite activity there seems to be a seldom occurrence.
Spartans are not prone to jumping to hasty conclusions, but this current trend is of concern to us. A trade proposal is on the table there, and we are waiting for your final word on our Treaty agreement. You have also had the turn in your possession for 24 hours now, and we would desire quick action in diplomatic affairs. We need to act swiftly, as the Gaians and Data Angels may already have a considerable headstart.
If our Virtual Embassy arrangement is a hindrance to you, by all means, suggest a replacement so that we can proceed with our talks posthaste.
Yours sincerely,
Major Kassiopeia, Diplomatic Officer of the Junta. |

We'd need to propose such better treaty terms, though. You want a 60:40 share of the energy credits, for instance? |
Or a fixed payment of 1.5 or 2 credits per year? 2 credits ~= 1 mineral IMHO, so they would be more or less paying our support costs. The advantage for the Morganites lies in the fact that they don't have to build a ship themselves.

To prevent that happening from a third time, may I suggest we wait a little longer in the future before posting diplomatic messages? That way everyone has a chance to tell his opinion. Since the other factions are very slow in diplomacy at the moment, us taking a little longer to post a reply wouldn't make much of a difference I believe.
Also, we haven't stated a term yet for our treaty, as we did for the Gaians. So we could say we're willing to sign a treaty, with a renegotiation every five years or so? Then over five years we could put Hunter exploration up for discussion again. Or alternatively if they wait too long with replying anything in the embassy, we would say we've changed our minds due to their silence?

I'm proposing to post in the Embassy, under the Hunter Logs, the following (unless the Junta agree that it should not be posted):
*************************************************
Captain's Log, 2142
Captain Primus Pilus activated the commlink to see the familiar face of Commander Dissident:
"Captain, here are your orders for this tour of duty"
"Sir!," responded Captain Pilus
The Commander continued:
"From your present position, you will sail on the following bearings, coastline and seafungus permitting, (and you are authorized to use your own discretion in circumnavigating such obstacles):
2142: S x 1, then W x 2, then S x 1
2143: S x 1, then SE x 3
2144: NE x 2, then E x 2
2145: There you will rendezvous with the Pegasus, just outside Hive coastal waters, who will be carrying fresh orders for you. Understood?"
"Aye, Aye, Sir," responded the Captain, as the commlink flickerd off.
He gave the ordsers to his crew, and the Hunter weighed anchor and sailed south from Vander Eudaimonics. The Morgan observer on board gave one last wistful look at the Base he'd called home for these last 40 years, then turned and went below deck.
*************************************************
OK to post?

Sounds fine. I'm sure mentioning the Hive coast is okay because the Morganites probably already know in what direction Yangland is.
