Aww shucks, it was a matter of good timing.

Iīve been trying to contact various civ2 veterans and managed to contact Captain Nemo and Alex a week or so ago. So when the Red Front redux thread showed up it was quite easy.

Can we all act a bit more like adults here? Nemo has given his wholly understandable reasons for retirement and spamming this thread won't bring him back. The guy left an incredible civ legacy which we have all enjoyed and benefited from; he will probably leave this forum with a pretty poor impression of the current crop of scenario creators..

Anyhoo, back on topic: an early screenie of some of the graphical mods to date - the German offensive in '41. The cities and resources have yet to be changed and feldgrau camo will give way to tricolour cammouflage by 1943. I'm still in two minds about using civ unit flags...

Personally I like the flags, I just like the flavor they ad to the visual image. You could also just have two units files, one with flags and one without. It wouldn't be too much work would it.

I wonder if anyone is up for doing some city art? The Nemo cities don't really look like European cities of the WWII era at all. There should be cathedrals and opera houses, etc., blocks of flats and the odd factory, in both German and Russian architectural styles. I'm unable to contribute at the moment, but I thought I'd suggest it in case anyone else is interested.

Thatīs some puny (MGE) city redux I will use in my WW2 scenarios. I posted some of them earlier, maybe you can use them though they are only in 256 colours

BTW, my ISP has started labelling suspect e-mails as 'spam' and I have an OE rule set up to put all e-mails with 'spam' in the title straight in the trash bin; i see you put 'not spam' in the title Guess OE isn't clever enough so I only just saw it today after checking through my trash folder

Would you mind if I edited the skyscrapers out? Tech's right, there were multi-storey tenement blocks in the 30's and 40's but only the US had full-on skyscrapers. If you could make suburbs in the same style that would be excellent, thanks

Here's the same screeny without unit flags.

I think I will include unit flags, if only to differentiate special units such as SS, Soviet Guard divisions and Guderian's Panzer Gruppe from their regular counterparts.

I guess I could include units files with/without flags as Jimmy suggested.
