I would rather buy a missile, six on attack unit, if they can sell it.

Now we are thinking really creatively.

And as for the cash. If making with Spartans good relations would cost us some energy I would do it compared to rushing and loosing troops at this stage of the game coz of war with them.

Yeah, was just giving an example regarding the weapon.

One thing tho. If we and they agree on an arms deal, I don't think that received units from the Spartans with a high morale will have the same as they transfered to us.

I am ok with loaning money to the Spartans but I am not sure about buying gatling or missile rovers from them.

That would be too much like tempting fate.
Yessir Col Googlie just leave those 12 elite missile rovers over there next door to Heavens Gate.

What would be useful to know is which Uni bases have probes in them.

It's an AI faction, I would be surprised to find strong probes there, if any.

And there's no reason to let possible purchases be dropped on the doorstep of one of our bases. We still got a whole peninsula on the west where a deal can be transfered to us.

We got a hint from Morganities, that Spartans can keep their probes on tiles near Zakharov bases. I would not be surprised to find some on key points, efectively obstruct the best access trails.

The bad side of any loan here is that once you borrow, you can declare vendetta and then you do not need to pay. We can only hope, Spartans will not use this strategy.

I have also similar thoughts about missile units. If we get SFF next turn, then we rather can spend these several minerals more on our prototype. Impact or gatling unit would be then a waste of energy

Those forces are for invading us.

In the short term they will affect you fishing expeditions. In the long term (7/8 turns) they will descend upon you. They will attack us, then you, then Gaia. They'll contain the Hive and get around to the PK when its convienent for them.

We do have a map of their territory. It's worrisome.

Mead

PS
One thing I forgot to mention regarding their Elite rovers. In addition to being able to move 3 turns, they also have multible attack. It's kinda like choppers.

On the sound of this PM, they expect to be gone before the decade is over. So we could see some Morgan bases conquered or obliterated when we have the turn again.

If this is the case, then I don't really understand why the Spartans didn't hold on the PTS base. They might have lost a tech or two on possible probe rapes, but it would freed other bases from those probe defenders for next years attack. And I can't believe the Morgans would have had enough cash to mindprobe a base back when a lot of military units where in it.

I still think our own strategy as set out in the Nexus thread is a good one. Also Doc Air is not far away. But I suppose we will have to build more sentinels around the coast as well.

Before you read it. I think we might make clear with Spartans how to give them Int Int. We might try to trade it the same turn we give it to them, though there is risk, Morganities might get it the same turn - build CDF maybe. This would break the deal with Spartans, kinda. I think we may secure CDF for them and get their trust in return. If they value honor the same as survival... So there it goes:
quote:

To Spartan Federation,

Maybe you could agree with our assesment of the political situation on the Planet, that recent events were very significant. We would like to ask you about your oppinion about the situation on Chiron.

Our last trade agreement is approaching completion with the moment you will succesfully receive Intelectual Integrity. We would like to ask you then, how would you like to receive this technology. We understand that you wish to build Citizen's defence Force. Will you be prepared to instabuild it in 2164?

Our relations have been very good and we very much appreciate the trust you gave to Data Angels by entering such agreements like trading Ethical Calculus for Intelectual Integrity, when we received the technology so many years ahead. Would you be interested in further technology trading?

Recently we entered in contact with Morgan Industries, as you may already know, and have a Treaty agreement with them. We received also an invitation for Pact, however we refused it. Our refusal was based on no-ingeration policy into your conflict with Morgan Industries. We are although interested in your oppinion on the current state of the war. In one of the statements in public discusion forum, we read, that Morgans could sign a peacy treaty with Spartan Federation. It appears from the conversation that it is Morgan Industries that refuses signature of Truce. Would you comment on that?

We also realize, that elimination of Planetary Transit System brought a commerce penalty on Spartan Federation due to market mechanisms independet from ours or yours will. Since you are in the Treaty of Friendship agreement with Data Angels, we would like to ask you, what is your current economic situation after the commerce income was stopped.

Sincerely,
Data Angels Diplomatic Corpse

no-ingeration

Did you mean no-integration.

Re this forthcoming trade of Intel Integ to the Spartans, we will need to remind Gaians of this previous agreement so as they are forewarned if and when Spartans build the CDF.

This could be viewed as an act of collaboration with Sparta against both Morgan and Gaia.

They could see this as colaboration, but we should not dispose our deals. Gaians would not treat us seriously too, if we made "deal withdrawals" just like that. I think they will understand. We could also remind them about receiving Ethical Calculus. From what they wrote, they might even not have it from Hive probing till now or until contacting Morganities. They also took already their share.

no taking sides sounds better, then...

I go for this message, and for sticking to our deals. If Morgans and/or Gaians find this offensive, so be it. They have no right to meddle in our deals with other factions... but the same counts for the Spartans!

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Message from Googlie (Spartan)
quote:

Dear IT GeoModder:

Thanks for the update as to when we can expect Intellectual Integrity.

May we inquire of you whether Morgan has asked about obtaining Int Int that same year from you (they precede us in turn order) and, if so, what your response was (or will be, if they have not yet asked but do ask in the next year?)

Also, might the Data Angels be interested in aquiring the commlink for the University of Planet ? (We are encouraging the good Provost to be more outgoing and to seek lucrative commercial relations with other factions) For a modest 40 energy credits we could supply that information (and you could recoup your investment - perhaps even make a modest profit - by onward transmission to your colleagues at the Gaian Union. Our diplomatic channels, alas, are somewhat blocked as regards the Federation Junta and the Union Lords)

Regards

Colonel Googlie

I do not recall Morganities usking us for Int Int in 2164.
Also, Mead now admits, the deployments are attacking them. I have impression, they only predict the "trail of destruction" planned by Spartans. It may be not true, unless the have a real mole inside their forum.

Re University commlink. 40 EC is a bit too much in my oppinion. This may also the sign that Spartans need energy. Maybe we could arrange it like that - they will give us Zaks commlink and we give them some preferential price on it as a part of helping their economy. Maybe 50 EC? Just to make it a bit larger?

I would propose the following message to the Spartans:
quote:

To Spartan Federation,

We have not discussed release of Int Int to Morganities. Also, knowing, that you intend to build Citizen's Defence Force, we would not trade it to any other faction, both AI or human controlled for the reason that Morganities preceed you in turn order. We also do not suspect Morganities to probe us for that specific technology and hope they will not be able to perform this action in 2164 mustering some incredible large effort.

We consider 40 EC for University of Planet as a bit too high price at this moment, however we might offer you a preferential price as recognizing your needs in times when you are refused any commerce. We would be willing to transfer to you 50 EC for commlink to Provost Zakharov.

This is quite a good approach, Mart, I have no objection in principle. But maybe not just yet.

It would be useful to find out from the Morgans if Zak's base, Mendelev has a Uni probe or indeed a Spartan probe in it.

We are not interested in the Uni Comms for the sake of it but for the infiltration aspect. And Zak could be just as non-communicative as Yang, for all we know. Plus there are not many Uni bases left, so Zak might no longer be a research guru.

The PK's also have Uni's Comm channel and that could be as productive and cheaper.

However if we do get a Pact with Zak via comms, it means our probe, rather than infiltrate Uni could explore further in the Spartan direction.

We can say that we still need to rush a number of NN or whatever (really Command Centres and plasma defense) so it may be 2164/5 before we can contemplate buying Uni comm.

In the meantime we can offer a 20ecs deposit. If we infiltrate then we can say we got comms via PKs but hey keep the ecs as a gesture of good will.

Or is all this too complicated.
