The following was received from Legoland:
quote:
El tratado de defensa Hispano - Legolandico / Legoland - Spain Mutual Protection Treaty
Article I
Defenition of the territory
The territory of Spain is defined as all land inside Spain's cultural borders and all lands on the continent named Bob south of the Spanish city of Saragossa (as of Turn 84).
The territory of Legoland is defined as all land on Legos Major & Legos Minor, that is all land reachable by foot units using no vessels from Legopolis, the capital city of Legoland (as of Turn 84).
Article II
Redefinition of the territory
Either party may propose to redefine their national territory and the change shall be effective upon the agreement of the other party.
The definition of the territory of both parties may be changed if:
New territories will be found, under the condition that these new territories are fully explored and unsettled by any other nation;
New settlements, that are outside of the land defined in Article I, are founded;
New territory, that is outside of the land defined in Article I, is accuired in any way;
Territory, that is part of the land defined in Article I, is lost in any way.
Article III
Causes that activate the alliance
If another nation settles on the land that is defined in Article I, while the party that claims this land has informed an official of the settling nation, that they claim those lands, both the offended party and the other party in the treaty will declare war on the settling nation, if the party that claims these land requests this, unless the alliance can persuade the settling nation from either evacuating or handing the settlement over to the alliance member whose territory is occupied, or retreat in any other way.
If any violation of the territorial integrity of the territory of either party, as defined in Article I, is being conducted, both parties will declare war on the atacking nation, if the attacked party requests this.
Article IV
Non-settlement & Non-agression ageement
Neither party shall settle in the territoriy that the other party has claimed to be his as stated in Article I. Also neither party shall declae war on the other.
Article V
Duration of the Treaty
The Treaty shall have a lenth of 20 turns. It shall be effective from 900 BC (turn nr. 84) and expire in 270 BC(on turn nr. 114).
The Treaty can after this period be extended for an amount of turns that is about to be defined by the parties.
The Treaty can only be extended upon the agreement of the both parties.
Article VI
Lapse of the Treaty
This Treaty will immediately lapse if one of the parties does not adhere to the terms in this Treaty.
Article VII
Alterations on the Treaty
Any statement in the Treaty can be altered, save for the Duration of the Treaty, as stated in Article V, the way of aid that the parties have agreed to provide in case the alliance is being activated, as stated in Article III and the lapse of the Treaty as stated in Article VI, upon the agreement of the both parties.
Article VIII
Settlement of any war

------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is not aproved yet we will wait to see if you make any changes then will vote on it. The changed stuff is bolded.

Articles VI & VII need work. I don't like VII at all and VI seems to make it very easy to just walk out of this treaty. We need to kill VII and reword VI to make it stronger. Thud & Aidun, please review and propose your suggested changes and also draft a better version of VI that makes any noncompliance a VIOLATION of this treaty, causing that nation to be in breach, voiding the other party's responsibility and also giving some sort of penalty to the offending nation.

Not that Lego would be of much assistance given their location, but the treaty is meant to discourage others from settling our lands as apposed to giving us much help if we are attacked by ND. As far as punishment for violating the treaty, there is no "UN", how would this be enforced?

new from Zeit of Gathering Storm:
quote:
Togas,
Our current ETA of Feudalism is 8 turns- this could possibly change, but will probably not go beyond 10 turns, which is still some time before anyone else has this tech, according to our sources.
Our price tag for all those interested is 200 gold (less than 30% beaker cost) or 12gpt over 20 turns. This trade will include a 7-turn non disclosure agreement, under which you are bound not to trade the tech to anyone else.
However, if you have a tech that the GS might be interested in (Engineering, maybe?) that you would like to trade, a tech-exchange, along with gold to offset the beaker cost differences could be arranged.
Let me know if you're interested in the exchange.
Zeit, Chief Diplomat of the Gathering Storm.

Message sent to Jon Miller:
quote:
Hola Señor Jon, I am Nuclearis Winterius the III ambassdor of the Roleplay team to the Vox Controlli team.
I am contacting you instead of Señor Betahound because you are the one online right now. Please convey this message to him if you don´t have the time available to answer it.
I am sending this message because Spain has heard a rumour of a nation having discovered the secrets of a tech called feudalism. We were very interested, and my most honored Lord, Togas, has ordered me to go look out for it. I am thus asking if your nation knows this secret, so we would like to comunicate the price that has been offered to us by it. We would pay the given team 12gpt or 200 golds in exchange for it. If your team has this technology available, and can offer it at a better price, we would like to know.
Best wishes,
Nuclearis Winterius the III,
proud ambassdor of Roleplay´s Spania to Persian Vox Controlli

The following PM was sent to Ghengis Farb and Darekill
quote:
Fellow Pact Nations:
Please convey this message to your people, as I know that Darekill is no longer governor, and do not wish to intrude on his retirement, but for an issue such as this, I felt it needed a statesmen of his experience and knowledge to convey properly.
We had our doubts about Vox's alleged "invasion", mostly because we were not called upon to defend this sacred land. We are now certain that the entire affair was a ruse ... or worse, that Gathering Storm felt that Vox's unit were relocated and planned to strike them by surprise.
We have viewed a map of Vox's land and found it lacking. They have little land, few resources, and no luxuries. Their quest to invade our continent is driven by their desire to expand. This has been a problem for our nations in addition to a public affairs nightmare.
We may have found the answer to the "Vox Problem" in this war:
If Vox is sucessful at conquering GS, they will have all the land they need, no longer feeling the pressure to expand to our continent and threaten conflict.
During the duration of this war we can be assured that Vox will not attempt to land any military units here.
Vox will lose considerably military units in combat, further reducing their threat to us.
Last, and certainly not least, this war will weaken or possibly destroy Gathering Storm, a very dangerous rival who's economy and research are the greatest in the world, and a nation who posesses a serious Late Game threat to us.
However, given the size and power of the enemy Vox has chosen, and given Vox's primative government form, they have little chance of winning with war without some assistance. I propose that we three nations support the upstart Voxians in their war, lending military units or loaning gold (on condition that Vox repays us with Engineering) so that Vox has a better chance of success. Furthermore, I propose that we embargo Gathering Storm for the duration of the war to assist Vox in their overwhelming struggle.
These gestures on our part will help to show Vox that we are not enemies and should encourage them to keep fighting Gathering Storm while we safely and peacefully settle the remainder of our continent. Furthermore, our support of Vox will enlongate the war, allow them to do maximum damage to GS, and possibly allow them the opportunity to grab the land they need to expand and never trouble us again.
I encourage both of you to contact Vox, express your support, and discuss means for helping them through this war. Presently we are working out terms with Vox for a loan of gold that will be repayed with technology at the end of the conflict. However, once Spain builds boats I will seriously consider sending military advisors and specialists into the conflict to aid the Vox Immortals in their duties.
I also believe that we should also publicly support this war and support Vox in this matter. I look forward to letters from you both on this affair expressing your opinions and thoughts on this very surprising and welcome affair.

Chat today with Ghengis Farb
Ghengis Farb indicates that GoW has a ship in the neighborhood of the Vox/GS war and spotted a stack of 26 Vox units headed south ... most of which were immortals. He believes that GS will lose this war.
He is interested in participating in a joint war effort with Spain to set up two camps in old GS territory ... one with 2 Furs, one with 2 Incense. This would allow, in his mind, both of us to grow our cities with abandon (in addition to the luxes we have here).
The idea is intregueing, but far off. GoW is still scouting their continent (and the lego continent) and will likely have maps for us to buy.
Ghengis reports that he was told by GS that they are putting Feudalism "on hold" to fight Vox (probably so that none of us trade it to Vox). He also reports that GS claims they do not need Med Inf and Pikemen, they will upgrade WCs to horsemen (jungle issues), build swords, and meet Vox in the jungle, leaving warriors behind to watch the cities. He indicates that he learned this from a chat with GS.
Ghengis believes ND will attack one of us, but does not seem interested in attacking ND now... as GoW only hase horsemen. Their plan is to save up $$ and mass-upgrade to Riders and then go stomping. (ND's plan is probably the same with Ansars).
GoW was researching Feudalism, but probably stopped (to save money) and is now trying to decide if they want to increase research as it seems that no one is going after this tech.
GoW is very interested in a defensive pact. We may be able to convince them to ALLY with us vs ND, but for now, I told him I'd draft a Defensive Alliance and send it to him later this week. We will sign this defensive pact and not renew our NAP with ND.
Ghengis continues to fear the Legos, even more than ND and GS. He believes that ND is kept in check by the two of us and now that Vox is at war with GS, all is good ... but the Legos have a lot of land (and they won't give us a map, because they don't want us to know).

GS knows of Vox’s invasion!!!
I was chatting today with DeepO, prominent member of the GS team, in an effort to keep the price of Feudalism down. In the chat, I asked when he felt they would have the tech to trade. His reply was:
DeepO> Within 8 turns. Not sure as the current events with vox are going to have us adjust our sliders, but our GA will be starting soon and not sure how that will effect the time
As can be clearly seen, they are prepared (or in the process of doing so) for Vox. Later on he asked:
DeepO> How do you think other teams will take advantage of Vox? Any plans on any of Bobs teams to launch an invasion against Vox?
Although I never confirmend (or denied – which I think he took as confirmation) Vox’s plans, he was curious as to where the teams fell on taking sides. I of course tried to say nothing and kept pumping him for some info. I did mention there was some talk about some teams taking advantage and starting a small border conflict here on Bob, but I never said who, and said that it was little more than talk at this time.
We talked quite a bit about Lego, and the fact that they are just sitting out there trading techs and expanding peacefully…. We both feel that they are probably winning the game right now and that soon someone will have to take care of them permanently.
He confirmed the tech trade of Feudalism for 200 gp or 12 gpt starting upon delivery, with a 7 turn non disclosure. He also offered Chivalry for the same price and condition, as they will be researching that next. Time for Chivalry TBD as the GA will be in effect.
I will contact him again regarding discounting Feudalism as GoW is (or at least they will be in my correspondence) offering it discounted and at approximately the same time.
Respectfully,
Godking

From the game save email:
quote: Originally emailed by GhengisFarb
As I told Togas,
Our potential trade deal with GS is to give them 200
gold now for them researching Feudalism at 100%
science and giving it to us in 3 turns.
We are not allowed to trade it to anyone for 10 turns
after that but would like to offer it to Roleplay at
that 10 turn mark for 75 gold to prevent GS from
profiting to much from the deal.
GS is allowing a GoW galley to scout their coast in
return for us to maintain a galley near Eliopolis and
giving them troop reports. No mention was made that
these troop reports be accurate. Basically, they wish
us to be their eyes and ears. |
Services for the highest bidder, as usual. I find the bit about "reports be accurate" highly amusing.
