Regarding the proposed alliance (can be found here)
quote:
Spolis of War
Apolytopn must give up cities captured to Fanatikou and Elucidia. These cities will not be useful to Apolyton. Elucidia and Fanatikou shall share all cities. However any cities Apolyton turns over with only one ressource or Luxury, must be traded to Apolyton for 30 turns after the turn over of the city. Also, if there are any cities that are captured with two luxuries, the second must go to Apolyton for 30 turns. If there are three luxuries, one must go to Apolyton for 30 turns, and the third must either go to Elucidia or Fanatikou for 30 turns.

To this, I would like to say a BIG, FAT NO. Granted, yes the cities are of no use to us, the problem is that the cities are of use to our neigbors, who will undoubtably be our future enemies. If we are even involved in this war (which I doubt we will do), I would much rather disband cities as we go.
Regardless of this though, this treaty is very slim pickings. The only benefits for us is the possibility of captured luxuries... *if* we even capture them. If we don't, well then we are SOL.
I doubt we will agree to this alliance anyway, but consider these issues a stall tactic

Something doesn't smell right here. Maybe it's my MP hunch, but uh...
Pieces of info:
GCA is declaring war on CFC - you don't bluff like that. With what we know about their intended alliance, GCA is really going to do it and this is probably their excuse. That means GCA has been planning this for a wee bit, and probably has a significant military presence. However- that means THEY ARE CONFIDENT THAT THE IMMORTALS NORTH OF THEM ARE NOT COMING SOUTH. Confident enough to start a war on the other front, in fact.
Indirectly, CDG has just polled our military readiness by asking if we can assist in a war against GCA. They just ran a unit past our warrior screen to see what was up there- and now they have a unit sitting by our Horse site to see what we'd do up there.
I think there exists the possibility that the real alliance here is CDG/GCA, that GCA is confident they can take down CFC... and that CDG may in fact be eyeing us - RIGHT NOW. Think about it- GCA is launching a war with its BACK to *the* offensive Ancient Times unit. CDG just locked down the ONLY possible route of interference in any actions they might take against us. We also recieved a really bizzare treaty offer that effectively questioned our military readiness..
GCA's move feels funny. Let's watch CDG very carefully. Either CDG has hoodwinked GCA into total strategic surprise when the Immortals strike south, or GCA knows something that CFC and we don't about CDG. Dominae may get his defensive war before all is said and done.
On the other hand, this could be a desperate gambit for GCA to get some breathing room; for all we know they're boxed-in down there, and CDG/CFC are going for the kill. I'd REALLY like to get a map trade with GCA in the immediate future. It would tell us a lot tactically, and give away very little of importance for us.

Draft Proposal of both Map and Tech trade to CFC (CFC confirmed earlier today that they have Math and HBR)
quote:
APOLYTONIA AND FANATIKOU MAP AND TECHNOLOGY TRADE DEAL
The nations of Apolyton and Fanatikou, in the spirit of maintaining a lasting friendship and mutually beneficial relationship, hereby agree to the following trade of world maps and technologies:
- Apolyton shall trade its World Map as well as the technology of Map Making
- Fanatikou shall trade its World Map as well as the technologies of Mathematics and Horseback Riding.
To ensure an even trade, all initial map trades between Apolyton and Fanatikou/GCA will take place on the same turn, as to ensure neither nation obtains the map of its enemy during this transaction. This will be accomplished by simultaneously gifting its world map to both, and receiving Fanatikou’s and GCA’s maps on the following turn.
The mechanics of this trade are as follows:
1) Upon ratification of this agreement, Apolyton shall gift its World Map to Fanatikou.
2) Upon receiving Apolyton’s gifted World Map, Fanatikou shall offer to Apolyton its own World Map as well as the technologies of Mathematics and Horseback Riding,
3) Upon receiving Fanatikou’s offer, Apolyton shall include the technology of Map Making and re-send the offer (accepted) to Fanatikou.
4) Fanatikou will accept the offer thus completing the trade.
Furthermore:
- Once Apolyton obtains the world maps of Fanatikou and GCA, Apolyton is bound by this treaty to refrain from trading its updated map to either Fanatikou or GCA for the duration of the war between these two as well as Elucidia during the same time frame.
This treaty shall come into effect the turn that Apolyton gifts its World Map simultaneously to the receiving parties. Any breach of this treaty will be considered illegal and reported to the United Nations.
