GCA has proven to be a very capable and clever rival and the decision to go to war was something that was heavily discussed among us, despite knowing quite well the consequences of such an act. We stand behind our decisions and hope that GWT reconsiders its attitude towards us. Let us put these problems behind us. Our teams' relationship began with a very good start: we traded techs, shared our histories and agreed on another future tech trade. We hope that we can overcome the difficulties that have lately beset us and regain our trust, and especially the confidence in knowing that there is still a long way to go in this game, and that both GWT's as well as Apolyton's interests are best served by having strong ties between our two great nations. Keep in mind GWT can also do city investigations for GCA. While this hasn't been important so far it will become significant if we build a fort city near Catchopolis.

Just say that we had sent them this stuff and when, without any responce. Did they get them and not say anything or did they not get them and think something else??

They said no to us before. They made a huge stink about it!

Now that THEY have a Galley over here AND want to travel though our territory....NOW they want to talk about it! Screw them. We are at war with them practically. We have agreed to embargo them and have agreed to help CGN in almost anyway possible against GWT. GTW has helped our enemy by gifting/accepting cities from GCA! It's GWT/GCA against CGN/(APO&CFC). The lines are drawn. There's no going back now.

We tell them a stern "No" in the same way they said it to us.

Hmm, just thought of something that may change my mind on the matter...does GWT have our world map? (I can't remember). If not then I will change my mind and agree with BigFree that we don't want them traveling our coastline.

EDIT: nevermind, they likely have our coastline from the map we gave GCA a long time ago.

You know, it's not entirely necessary to be as stupid and near-sighted as GWT just because they were that near-sighted towards us.

While I agree that we are certainly committed to being aligned with CGN against GWT, does GWT yet fully realize this? I honestly don't have an answer for that.

Is it possible that GWT may not realize the damage done by their cultivation of GCA or may be convinced that we're still willing to deal with them?

If so, is there anything to be gained by at least pretending to still hold open the possibility of working out a settlement with GWT?

While I certainly agree that we should remain committed to siding with CGN in the CGN-GWT conflict due to our own interests, I see any hurry to immediately assume this means we should clarify this to GWT to be needlessly foolish without at least exploring the feasibility and desirability of using deception instead.

Did I say we tell them why? We just say "No." They will certainly first come to the conclusion that we are saying no, because they first said it. What do we have to possibly gain by moving our Galley, which is not in position, through their waters now? It may be that by the time we get to their borders that they will change their minds after they have sailed through our waters! We gain very little by giving them permission.

Do not think for a moment that GWT does not know whom Apolyton's thinks it's friends are.

I say that we first ask them WHY they want to stop there for one turn?

Also, ask them why they never returned our earlier communications?

BUT after that, As long as we can keep the lines of communication open, especially in the consideration of their helping GCA, we might get them to regret helping GCA, to the point that they pull a Vox on them.

Let them move though, but they have to wait for our Galley to get back to their border (and starting to Trasverse it) before we'll allow theirs to continue.

This also gives our Galley time to heal and find anything that might be north Of us.

Also, we need to put a unit on that boat, if it does find anything.

Passing around the continent would require them to be within our borders for one turn. I think that's what he means by "stopping" within our territory for one turn.

We have more to gain (scouting out part of their core to the NE of their capital) than they have to gain from us (seeing NOTHING new since they got an updated shot of our capital due to our embassy and all of our tile improvements were already in place).

Crying because they said no before does us no good now.

I thought carrying grudges was cheating BF? Or should we discuss your PBEMs again?

I would rather we use the opportunity to open broader discussions with them. Sound them out on a number of things, among them the sheltering of a civ who has declared its intent to screw us with WW.

Can we suggest that better relations would be welcome, but we see GCA's attitude to be an impediment to that?
