That was the right move with the warriors. No sign of barbs in the south - which is why I parked them on that tile. Too bad we do not have a num merc to show off. We will soon. I suggest Gorilla produce strictly num mercs for awhile. I think we can get the shield production up to where we could produce one every five or six turns.

Again - we may be able to exploit early territorial tensions between the other two. Conmcb - this is where we will rely on you to pick up any subtle - or less than subtle messages - of friction between Python and CoD.

1550bc turn played.

Sorry for the delay. Long delay. And then when I sat down at the computer - the Victoria's Secret Fashion show came on.

here's the pic.

http://apolyton.net/upload/files/Beta/Monkey-1550bc.JPG

Jojo SW

Cheetah N

Gyles S next to the hut. The CoD scout is on the hill and can pop it this turn. No barbs around.

Our first Num Merc out next turn.

The northern worker has moved to the enhanced grassland tile.

The new southern worker from Macaque has move to the unroaded tile SW from the lake.

I dropped the slider by 10%. Now at zero gpt, and Literature in 15.

Settler from PC in 5.

Back to the show....

Put an end to popups!

1525 bc turn played.

Literature in 13 turns.

Treasury at 5 gold and +1gpt.

Jojo was wounded by the barb that we could see last turn. He is down to 1hp. He moved SW revealling more jungle terrain. He will halt next turn for healing.

Cheetah moved NW. This was a less aggressive northerly move than straight north. I am awaiting resolution of con's discussion with Python before pushing on. Or should I push on - staying out of cultural borders - until they raise a fuss?

Num Merc (NM) produced in Gorilla - and moved to Orang where the Python warrior can see a vet NM for PR purposes.

Warrior Furry to Gorilla. Zena to the capitol.

Renamed the northern worker Washington. Mining the enhanced grassland tile 7 of Orang.

Renamed the southern worker Churchill. He moved to the tile 1 from the lake to mine and road it.

PC is producing a settler in two turns. Any preferences as to sites. I figure we will use the one on the coast - to the SE of PC.

Gorilla produces another NM in 6 turns.

Orang - I set to barracks in 12.

Macaque a NM in 7. Could be changed to settler.

The new city - Chimpanzee - is schedule to produce a worker in 9. Maybe a different build would be better for a non-granary city. Any thoughts on this, or the other builds?

Tired of ads?

Monkey b to monkey c.

I copy that. But it was already done last turn for the exact reasons you have given.

As per my turn post:

quote:
Num Merc (NM) produced in Gorilla - and moved to Orang where the Python warrior can see a vet NM for PR purposes.

Warrior Furry to Gorilla. Zena to the capitol.

I suspect he will be very visible on Pythons turn.

btw - we need to come up with a naming convention for our num mercs. (Monkey Mercenaries. Park Rangers?)

Monkey b out.

Beta,

I had a quick look at the save, but didnt play or move anything.

I think PC may want to do a Merc before the next settler.
Let PC grow to pop4.
And I am worried about barbarians.

I should of paid more attention to your report, and brought this up earlier...sorry.

Anyway..its your call. You can play the save and decide what you want.

P.S. Manouver the monkeys around so that our worker is covered, and the PC warrior can act as backup to all 3 cities.

1500bc turn played. Thanks for the tips H_E. You raise some good points.

In the north - Cheetah can see more of the Python border, and it would appear that he is now blocked by it. Furthemore, he just left a Python spear and settler pair who were standing beside him, so I suspect we may be in the way now.

con - can you contact Python, make our apologies for getting in their way, and ask how they would leike us to extract Cheetah so he does not interfere with what they are trying to do. Thanks.

http://apolyton.net/upload/files/Be...500bc-north.JPG

And Jojo moved to a hill where he can heal the next two turns before moving on.

Down south - rearranged the monkeys so the NM is with the worker, and warrior is in Orangutan, and the PC warrior can get to all the remaining cities in one move.

PC build changed to NM - out next turn.

Worker Churchill, after much debate between me, myself, and I decided on irrigating the grassland. The three food tiles here will ofset nicely the forst tiles next to Chimpanzee. Also - Chimp is producing a worker first - we may want to reconsider that as it does not have a granary, and takes the full 10 turns to get back the pop point.

http://apolyton.net/upload/files/Be...500bc-south.JPG

And way down south - no screenshot - Giles moved one tile SE (3). He cannot see either the CoD scout - or any barbs as of yet. But I know they are out there somewhere. Wish we had a NM down here. Giles is scared.

It will offset the tundra we have near Chimp too...

I'm sorry that I'm not here more often these days, but school is REALLY taking my time here, and will probably will until mid-december (the 18th to be more precise). I continue to read, but have less time to post...

Beta..Are you sure it was a settler ?
I am at work, so I cant check...but when I opened the save last night, I thought it was a worker pair.
I could be wrong.

Beta, be very careful putting our Mercs where they can be attacked.
It Python wanted to screw us, they could suicide their warrior against our Merc.
We then get a very early GA.
We are not ready for it and dont even have our core down yet.
And worse still...we are still in despotism. And heaven knows you dont ever want a despotic GA

I did this in the islands PBEM.
I found a wandering hoplite, and suicided my warrior against it.
Greece had a despotic GA with only 3 cities.
A big risk by me to upset a neighbour... but I think it has lost the game for him.

I dont think we get 3 food until we are out of despotism.
Just road areas we want to irrigate.
When we hit republic, then we can go back & irrigate.

I agree. This game is turning into a land grab. I would risk yet another grainery...but Chimpanzie is not the best city for it.
Perhaps a barracks or even a regular NM.

Get him on that hill and camp him.
He will see the COD scout coming and can pop the goodie hut if needed.
PC's Merc should head south and get rid of that barb camp.

We definately need some more Mercs.
Mercs & settlers.

And another grainery in either/both Gorilla or Orangutan would not go astray.
From what I have heard from GS in PTWDG, once they were certain they had a trustworthy peaceful northern neighbour , they invested heavily in graineries. And their economy now is clearly the most powerful...perhaps matched only by Lego.

Kon - don't worry about the game. We will take care of it. You concentrate on studies and upcoming exams.

H_E - as to whether it is a settler or worker pair - it is not clear. They have been renamed - so it could be either. I assumed a settler as I could not figure what workers would be doing outside the cultural borders - but then again - they could be building a road for the next settler out. At any rate - further movement north puts us into their territory. Cheetah will probably have one more move then that is it.

You are right about the 2 food cap on an irrigated grassland tile. It becomes a 3 food tile, reduced by one by depsotism. Sorry about that - too may games lately at other forms of government. I would suggest we let him finish - it is only one more turn, and we would not likely be mining the tile. We can use it in the future. But, he should have roaded instead.

I hear you regarding the NM and the GA. Good points. I have assumed that Python would not pull such a move - but that being the case - I could have covered the tile with a warrior instead.

When you right click on them, Civ gives you the option to look them up in the civlopedia. If "settler" is not an option, then its a worker.

It's how I discovered GS's sneaky settler attempt.
About 15 or so knights/MI/Pikes & 4 workers.
But there is a civlopedia option for settler

I reported it to ND & in the GoW forum.....
And that stack no longer exists

I agree.. let him finish.
All we really need is a military road to Chimpanzee & the 2 other yet to be settled core cities.

What do we do with Giles and the hut? Should we park him on the hill for now until we get a NM down here?

And any idea where the CoD scout went to? Any chance of a deal for the third hut - or do WE take our chances with it.

I am thinking Giles should jump on that hill.
From there, he can fortify and see the COD scout & barbarians coming.

Our PC Merc needs toget down south ASAP to that barb camp.
He can probably stay down there and hunt barbs.

I agree with Beta.
Is Python willing to deal for the hut ?

Python has a tech we dont have.
They give us a huge discounted price on that tech.
We share with them whatever is popped with the hut.
(Gold or tech).

Thats a good deal for them and us.

We get the save from Sir Ralph from Monty.
It might be an idea to just reply to his email and ask if they have considered the deal yet.
We need an answer soon.

There is a good chance that barb camp could be sprouting horsemen by now. Giles cannot survive long.
He needs to pop that hut soon.

I went ahead and played the turn.

Giles got jumped, lost a pip, but is still alive. He moved to the hill.

The CoD scout has shown up near Chimpanzee.

The NM from PC continued south.

The NM in Orangutan moved over to Gorilla.

The two workers started roading their respective tiles.

Giles continues to heal but another barb has shown up and is now adjacent to him.

Giles moved west (4) to the coast to try and stay out of Python's way. He will now move south to get out of there. Again - con if you are chatting with them - please pass on our apologies.

Moved the slider to 80%. It moves lit from 10 turns to 8 turns. We are 8 gold and -1gpt.

Our monkey prayers are with Jojo and Giles, out in the hinterland, far away from their favourite trees, facing angry barbarians.

1425bc played.

PC's NM (heading South) is renamed Mizaru the Chimpanzee
Gorilla's NM (fortified in Gorilla) is renamed Mikazaru the Chimpanzee

Giles (Next to the goodie hut) fortifies (2/3 health)
Zena fortifies in PC (PC grows in pop next turn, so this will stop rioting)
Cheetah heads south (along Python border)
Jojo (Fully healed) attacks a barbarian and kills it (3/3 health)

Jojo can attack a barb camp next turn. We need to decide if he wants to...I say yes, we need the 25g

Python warrior remains at our border

Lit in 7 @ -1gpt (we have 7g)

For reference
Mizaru, Mikazaru & Mazaru are the 3 wise monkeys
Mizaru (see no evil)

Full PM-box? Change here!

I suggest we wait until the NM is down south before tackling both the hut and the barb camp. We can slow down on research if need be until the Nm gets there.

to Jojo's victory. Now lets see what is down on that peninsula.

As to naming the NM's - I am fine with the suggestions. I thought however that the NM's were going to be game wardens. Chimpanzees are fine though. I like the idea of each type of unit having a species name - similar to our cities. So I am OK with Nm being chimpanzees.

We may need to do some research on monkety species though.

It doesnt bother what they are named ... if you have some roleplay in mind that needs Game Wardens...then change them up.

Perhaps we should do our first ever Monkey Poll ?

1400bc turn played.

http://apolyton.net/upload/files/Beta/Monkey-1400bc.JPG

Giles in the south fortified after healing. I suggest we use the NM to do the barb work.

Cheetah in the far north near Python territory moved south.

Jojo moved to the hills. The barb camp has both a warrior and a horse. If we want to take it on - fine. Let me know. Would be nice to have a NM there.

Speaking of which - two vet NM's out next turn. I re-arranged the workforce now that the new mine is produced near Orangutan, and got Macaque down from two turns to one.

Settler from PC in two.

Southern worker moves south to connect Chimpanzee by road. Northern worker moves to the un-mined road tile and commenced mining.

6 gold in the treasury - and -1gpt. Lit in 6. I figure we wshould be OK as we have some pop growth coming as well. Gorilla next turn, and Macaque in 3.

I suggest Macaque build a settler next.

That's it. Hey, check out these mangoes I found .....
