DIPLOMACY: Treaties/Alliances
Nik Taylor:
- Also, allow borders to be drawn in negotiations!
- How about allowing an option in negotiations to determine
borders? Any violation of those borders would be an act of war.
- How about allowing Civilizations to fuse. For example,
Spain was formed by the fusion of Aragon and Castille.
Miguelito:
- In any future version of Civ, I would like to see stronger ties
between diplomacy and territory. When accepting a treaty, a human
player should have the chance to demand extra money to sweeten the
pot, just as the computer does. (Expand the menu to "*Accept *Reject
*Add demands.") Even better, both should have the opportunity to
demand territory. When a player wishes to demand territory as part
of a treaty, a small map appears; he uses the mouse cursor to
encircle his territorial demands on the map, and the map is submitted
for approval or refusal. Similarly, the computer may respond to a
treaty offer with a map with certain areas highlighted and the
message, "Perhaps if you were to cede these territories to our
imperial interests...." If a city belonging to the signers is on the
land, it changes hands, as well, and military units on ceded territory
could be ejected by the terms of a peace treaty just as they can be
ejected from a city radius in Civ2.
Adam Gitner:
- In diplomacy you should be able to customize terms of peace treaties and
alliances. For example, a cease fire could possibly make the civ give
up some cities, pay annual tribute for x number of years. If two nations
like each other enough, what about combining them into one civ.
Brent Davis:
- I think that in civ2 you should be able to ally with other nations to fight
against your and their enemies.
Kurt Stoyle:
- A major change to treaties. The enemy would be MUCH more harsh,
demanding cities from you. These cities would be along your shared
border (if possible), and would be grouped together - they would usually
request a return of all territory stripped from them during the war.
Tom Langan:
- How about treaties? You can do everything else,
but what about realistic treaty making? You can tell people to withdraw troops,
but often in wars, treaties are the most interesting part.
By D. Credé:
- A possibility for disarmament treaties of N(uclear)B(iological)C(hemical) weapons
(or other weapons) between two or more nations should be given.
