Nik Taylor:

  • How about more economy? Unemployment, minimum wage, etc.? Certain discoveries could raise unemployment temporarily, increasing unhappiness and decreasing taxes. While we're at it, how about more accurate tax rates? High tax rates could increase unhappiness, especially in times of economic trouble. And allow deficent spending and a national debt.

Christopher Fowler:

  • I work as a financial analyst, so the economic system in Civ II seems a bit simplistic to me. I would like to see a bit more meat in this area. However though, I do realize that this might not be most people's idea of a good time ("Damn! The Carthaginians lowered interest rates again.") and I play games to get a break from this sort of thing. The addition of something like a Central Bank as an improvement or Wonder (although theres nothing wonderful about the Federal Reserve) with the effect of acting as a lender of last resort (or something). This could allow loans between allies. Defaulting on a loan would cause serious damage to one's reputation.

Ted MacGillivray:

  • Communication lines: You would have to keep in contact with your civilization, until the development of Radio. If you didn't bring a unit from your capital to the outer cities, they would feel neglected and declare independance. There would also be other results, but I can't think of any offhand.

Chris Grove:

  • Allow the airlifting of freight or spies to allied civilizations that also have airports, maybe charge sucharge for expenses

Visitor (Unknown):

  • Trade should be more complex with dependency on oil and other important resources. Embargos should be in civ3 and situations like the Gulf war should occur.

Jason Wray:

  • The tourism idea set forth by Cor Smal should be expanded; Say, useing a postcard or sunglass icon on the city screen to represent tourist's adding to the tax rev. and takeing from the food suply. Also airports and wonders should increase the flow of sucke....tourists.

Tom Langan:

  • More control over economics than just tax rate?
